I am thinking about staying at the Contemporary for the 1st time. I really love the Poly but the Contemporary looks really nice. I love the look of their rooms.I am looking for Contemporary fans to tell me what they love about the CR. I am also wondering if I would be happy if I only booked a standard room? I want to do a split stay with AKL Conceirge so I would like to spend less money at my 2nd resort. I really appreciate any info.
Thanks!!!!!!:)

We love staying at the Contemporary! The view of the MK from the tower is worth the price. Concierge service is also fantastic, especially on the 14th floor.

The views at the Contemporary are soooooo amazing!!!!! The location is great, the new rooms are some of the best rooms on WDW property. Everything about the CR is great!

I think so far the Contemp is DH's favorite. Can't say I have a favorite -- yet. ;)

We love the Contemporary too. It was nice when we stayed in the Garden Wing but when we stayed in the Tower with a view of the castle; it was amazing. It was great to either ride the monorail or take the short walk to the MK (or the short walk to the Contemporary Grill).
I hope that you like it as much as we do.

Best things about CR to me are the MK view, the easy walk to MK, of course the monorail, and no worrying about a long walk to anything since it's not spread out like so many WDW resorts.

Worst things, inadequate foodcourt, sometimes busyness of the 4th floor, and in many respects it feels like a hotel, not a Disney resort.

Good things easily offset the not-so-good things for me.

While the Polynesian is my favorite - I am looking forward to staying at the Contemporary someday. I think it's awesome. :goodvibes

Thanks for the great responses. I know that the views are great but do you think that I could be content with a standard view. I know that staying CL would be great but very expensive. I know that even if I book a standard room I will be able to enjoy the convenience of the monorail and be able to enjoy having the California Grill at the resort.
Thanks again!!!:)

Hey Kata,

When I went in December I booked a standard room in the garden wing. Believe it or not, they upgraded me for free to MK View for 1 night and Bay Lake View for 5 nights in the Tower. But we did walk around the wing. It is very nice and quiet. The rooms are EXACTLY the same as those in the tower except they don't have balconies (except 1st floor rooms do have patios). Since your considering a standard view room, they are all at the front of the wing, which is most convenient to the Tower. Just a short 1-2 walk to the 4th floor. And don't think because your staying in the wing makes you feel out of place. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this resort even if it is just a standard view. Hope this helps!

Thank you,I really appreciate your quick response!!!!!:)

My family and I love staying at the Contemporary because it was the very 1st WDW Resort we stayed at in May 1998, so because that it has a special meaning for me. Also in December when we stayed at the Polynesian I realized after visiting the Contemporary a few times that I had missed staying there. Finally how can you not enjoy the Magic Kingdom view in the Tower and waking up to this?

I've stayed at both, but we're going back to the Poly. We were sooo fortunate to get a free upgrade to the tower/MK view...it was wonderful!! It made our trip and I can't thank the folks that did it for us enough! We had a rough year and it made all the stress go by the wayside...I am sooo glad we tried the CR, but I think ultimately we are more Poly people....Poly just feels like home....we love the lush landscaping and flowers and smells...we went to England last year and found out we're country mice...we compared CR to staying in the city and the Poly to the Cotswolds....it's just more relaxing for our family at the Poly, but the nuance of visiting the "city" style resort has its own sweet treat...I'd say if you've never been, to try the CR...you won't regret it, if the upgrade to the tower weren't that much more, I'd consider it...amazing watching the fireworks and goings on from the room!

You can't go wrong with either one! :)

Love it!! The CR was our first disney resort. MK view is a must for us. The rooms are great, pool area is very nice. Also, being within walking distance to MK is a big plus.
