Do you like your health insurance plan?

I am so jealous. Ours use to be $400 a month and still not cover much. DH even got doubled billed (insurance only covered part of the first office visit and a small part of the pills) for a blood pressure check up and a physical and then billed for lab work and then for the medicine. Then it was to doubled a month. Needless to say the company is in the process of changing providers so no coverage right now. :guilty:

I am very nervous of that fact and crossing fingers for the waiting period to be up and insurace to take effect for all of us. It will still be more but just having it again will help me sleep.

I have Blue Cross and no matter what the plan I find them amazing.

I've had PPOs and HMOs from them, no issues.

I realize this is no longer the norm but as a single with no dependants this is my plan:

$0 a month
$10 generic
$25 brand name
$45 non-formulary brand name
$60-$80 for a 3 month supply via mail order depending on the drug
$10 co-pay for all dr. visits.

If I had any dependants I'd be paying several hundred dollars a month for them though...

I like my HMO for the most part, but it is a pain when they take a drug off their formulary and then we have to find an equivalent. My doctor can send me to a specialist without jumping through referral hoops. I had a few hospitalizations and surgeries without cost to me. We do pay $170 per month for family coverage, $20 for each office visit and a co-pay for prescriptions. I read recently that 4 of PA's HMO's were rated fairly high in a customer satisfaction survey.

i have healthnet hmo, and while i hate hmo's in general i've found that if you are fortunate enuf to find a great primary care phsician ( a.k.a. the gatekeeper) who knows the "system" it can work. dd had an incident this summer wherein the hospital bill alone (not surgeon, orthopod....) for one nite ran over $45,000.00-we paid zero dollars.

p.s. for those with increasing perscription expences consider asking the doctor if he/she will increase your dosage on paper (if you take 1 per day, he "prescribes" it a 3 per day cutting your need to refill from 12x per year to 4x per year) most doctors are aware of this increasing problem for consumers and will try thier best to help out.

I love ours. We pay $100 a month for family. No co-pays at all. Except $25.00 if we go to the ER. I had 2 babies in 13 months (60,000 right there), The covered hubbys vasectomy 100% (But hmmm the dont cover IUD's). Our daughter has to have an extra toe removed and that is covered 100%.

Now my dental on the other hand stinks

We have United healthcare and I think they are terrible......it is a ppo and co pay is $20...I think their customer service is the pits and they are always trying to get out of paying....

interesting hearing what different folks pay for coverage-i pay around $200.00 per month (hmo) and have a $5.00 co-pay/$25.00 e/r, $5.00 perscriptions (they go generic unless doctor mandates a brand name). i have friends who have same plan offered to them (with 5x higher co-pays), same family size but would pay over $700.00 per month.

Our health insurance with DH's old job was the pits! We paid huge premiums and had terrible coverage. The thing that most people don't understand is that even though we had Blue Cross our plan and what is covered was determined by the company buying the policy, NOT the insurance company unless you are buying one of the specific plans an insurance company has to offer, usually for smaller companies.

We have always had Blue Cross/Blue Shield and I have always found their customer service to be good. When DH's old division was bought out by a new company, the insurance coverage we had really went down hill. The first company had about 25,000 employees, the second company had almost 60,000 employees and our insurance costs doubled and our coverage was worse.

With DH's new job our insurance starts on Nov 1st, so we will see. I am still waiting for DH to bring home more specific information about what is covered, what is not, etc. I can't find the exact information I am looking for on the website for the ins. co. I found some information about what I THINK is our plan and if it is, I am going to like this simply because we don't have to get referrals any more!!!! I hope that is right.
