Having grown up in the UK, I really like Marmite. My theory is that you have had to have eaten it as a child to like it as an adult. When my (American) MIL tasted it for the first time, she spat it out.

Everyone in my family eats Vegemite at least a couple times a week. I never had it until I was an adult but I instantly loved it. I haven’t had the opportunity to try Marmite, unfortunately.

I don’t love either as a spread, but marmite can be a great addition when cooking. Probably Vegemite is too, but easier to get Marmite here.

That’s not the point of the poll. It’s a general poll to get a response from the boards on where they stand on the products. It’s that simple. No judgment either way.

I like Marmite on toast. Hadn't thought about that in a long time. I should get some. I used to have a recipe for a pate that was made with it and it was really good. Not sure where the recipe went. Funny how foods come and go in our lives.

I've never tried Vegemite. I thought they were the same thing, but with a different name.

It’s part of my heritage, so of course I’m going to take it seriously. Since this comment, I haven’t said anything further on either thread.

I remember having tried Vegemite once when I was in 7th grade. We had a nice exchange girl from Australia who brought some for us to try. She spread it on a Ritz cracker w/ margarine (or butter?). I remember liking it lot, so I would be open to trying it again. I also thought Marmite was the same thing w/ a different name, but I'd give that a whirl, also.

I don't even know what they are. Look up Vegemite and the first page is about pills while I thought it was some sort of vegan food stuff. Then later results show it's some sort of vegan food stuff.

It’s not some trendy vegan food; it’s been part of the Australian diet for a century. It’s a spread made from yeast and spices and is a good source of B vitamins.
