Do You Like Unique Baby Names?

YES! I love um! I have never met a Kassea, like me! And it was great growing up. I plan to be somewhat unique if we ever have children, but only because we plan to name our kiddos after family names or family members.

As a teacher, you see the trends in names and you cringe! One year I had 3 Elizabeth's in one hour...at least one went by Beth, one Liz, and the other Elizabeth. One year I had two Brendons and two Brandons in one hour. In my 4th hour this year I had 4 Rachel's.....no nicknames there! And there were two Rachel W's! I have a Tyler, Ashley, Brittney (Britney, Britany...etc.) and Mykaila (Makaila, Mykayla...etc.) in just about each hour. I did have some different ones this year that were fun....Dallas, Darby, and Marin.

I like the unique names...they are easy to remember and define you as unique.

I like unique names, but not weird names. I wanted to name my son something unique, so I named him Torin. I did decide to give him a common middle name just in case he didn't want to be unique, so he is Torin Scott. And actually, he LOVES his name.

Marsha

I like some unique names, but I agree with several posters--try putting Dr. in front of it, and if it would make a good online password, it's not a good name! I am also not a fan of crazy spellings, or people naming their kids any word out of the dictionary (I once met a girl named Pleasure......I know she was not one, but I could only think of strippers). I do NOT like unisex names...girls named Taylor, Ryan, Hayden, etc. Hayden is a good enough name for a boy, but there are so many of them, girls and boys! I really like Aiden, but after Sex and the City I'm afraid there will be a ton of them!

A friend of mine had a boy last year and named him Brinson McCade (yes, he is supposed to go by both names).

I like names that are somewhat old fashioned, aren't horribly popular, but aren't "unique" in the sense of being invented for the occasion.

For example, I like:

Eleanor
Naomi
Jacqueline
Claire
Evelyn
Margaret
Lucy
Meredith
HAHA It's kinda funny cuz all my cousins have those names (well not all of them)

I do like unique names... and I like unique spellings. Like I wanted to name my daughter (if I had one) Celeste Jeneva (CJ for short). My boyfriend ousted the Jeneva part though.

But this is what I always wanted to do: have my child in another country (which ever I choose) and then pick a name native to that country/culture. My kid will have good bragging rights then. ;)

I'll get back to you when I figure out what names I like.
