Do you like to camp? Not me!

I HATE camping. My mother was a very outdoorsy-type so that's all we did when I was a kid, but I hated it then and there's no WAY I'm going to do it now. Of course, my kids keep bugging me to go camping. Since they go to WDW every year, I hardly think they're deprived, so I don't feel so bad telling them 'nope, not with me, not in this lifetime!' :teeth:

A hotel without room service is as close as I like to get.

I have gone on scout campouts with both of my children. Mom and me type things. We had fun but I was glad when they both realized that they didn't really like it. We are NOT a camping family.

Yup, I like to camp. :)

Prior to age 19, I can only recall staying in a hotel one night for a wedding plus a few nights on my senior class trip. My family always camped.

I even went tent-camping for my honeymoon. :p

I enjoy camping occasionally. I would go more often if I didn't have such bad allergies. We tent camp, but only go to places with shower facilities. The key to camping and not being grossed out IMO is being very organized. A little bag to take to the shower with everything you need - complete with flipflops to shower in, folding camp chairs, food ready to toss on the fire, a strategy for clean up etc.

We used to camp when I was younger in a motorhome, don't really remember much though. When DH and I first started dating he took me out to Wyoming to camp at Yellowstone. All of his coworkers thought he was nuts and that I would hate it....but I loved it. I loved the idea of camping in the mountains. We froze our butts off, little did we know that at the end of May, they still get snow out there. But camping in Florida, with snakes and alligators, I have no interest in it. I would camp out in the mountains in a heartbeat though.

When I was 16, mom and dad made us (my brother and I) go camping with them each of the 50 (no not a typo, fify) weekends that they went camping (including our yearly 3-week vacation). That year was awful. Other than that year, I love camping. Granted, my parents idea of camping is in a fifth-wheel, although they used to really "rough it" when they sometimes used their pickup camper.
I typically camp 6 days every other year (while on a 6-day mountain bike trip). I like the friendships made, the experiences.

One word....NO

I like to camp at the Marriott, which is one of my mother's favorite campgrounds.

I don't like anything that creeps, crawls, swims or slithers and let's not forget flys.

I've also become used to flushies and hot running water.

I'd do it for the kids if I had to, but thank goodness they are boy scouts and they get "camping" out of their system that way. :D

My inlaws have a trailor at a campground about 1 1/2 hours from here. My DH will take my DS because he loves it. Not me! I'll go for the day but thats about it. I live on acreage and I can't see the reasoning of getting away somewhere to where people are actually on top of each other. Thats not my idea of relaxation.

I don't like to sleep under a million stars.

I prefer five.

;)

As long as I have airconditioning, soft bed, and a hot shower, I'll camp.

I'm not crazy for camping. I like to have a readily available flushing toilet and I don't want to sleep on the ground. I'd be petrified to camp at ft. Wilderness just because of the SIZE of the bugs :crazy2: .

A few weeks ago we got one of the those outdoor fireplaces and I love that ::yes:: . It's the fun part of camping (marshmellows, socializing around the fire) and I still get to sleep in my bed.

I don't mind camping & I don't mind staying in hotels, so whatever comes is fine with me

I was having this discussion with a friend tonight. I always say that my idea of camping is a Motel 6, and that's really roughing it. I just don't want to be anywhere that doesn't have a bed with sheets, a bathroom, and running water all in the same small area.
But then again I don't like getting dirty much either.
I guess I'm just one of those spoiled girly girl types. But I'm ok with that!

Our family just went camping for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was great! We stayed at Cape Disappointment on the WA coast. The campground was great -- lots of clean restrooms, nice campsites, and a path right to the beach. Luckily we were with four other families and two had travel trailers so we had access to cooking facilities even though we were tent camping. Come on everybody...give it a try, you might actually enjoy yourselves. ::yes::

I wanted to add, we always sleep on air mattresses and they really are comfy. If I had to sleep on the ground with just a sleeping bag, I might feel differently. We always make sure to go for a camp site that is close to the bath house too. I don't want to walk a mile to use the restroom.
