Maybe not for a wedding (but really, why NOT? After watching Ace of Cakes this week and seeing the Stanly Cup cake, I'd say anything goes!) but my daughter would LOVE that for a Birthday party cake!

I bet it cost an arm and leg to make! Super cute, though!

I wouldn't want it for my wedding, but for a couple that loves video games/Mario it would be great. I love that couples are feeling a bit more free with their wedding cakes these days. It should be about whatever makes them happy and if it's a Mario cake then more power to them!

Depends on what the bride and groom are into IMHO. I think the best weddings reflect a lot of the bride and grooms' personalities, from the decorations to the music and everything in between.
If I went to the wedding of a couple that I knew loved video games, especially classical ones, well I would think the cake was awesome.

My thought when I see cakes like that is that it's a shame to eat them! I prefer to eat simple cakes and keep works of art to display.

How creative and fun! We had a very colorful, non-traditional wedding cake as well, so I think it's great!

I think it is really cute! I just showed it to DH, and he said "you know you would have let me have it!" I don't love Nintendo, but Mario Kart is one of the few games that we both really like, and the only game I can beat DH at sometimes.

DH turns 30 next year, and I want to have a surprise party, so maybe I will get that cake for his birthday.

I think it's really cute and fun. I'd bet the couple that had it for a wedding cake is a lot of fun and I'd bet their wedding reception would be a blast (and those are the best kinds of wedding receptions IMO).

As a cake decorator, YES, I love it! The work is incredible, flawless even, and several difficult techniques are involved in that cake. I'd like to think I'm a good decorator, and I couldn't make that -- not that well anyway.

Would I want it for my own wedding? Not on your life, though I agree with others: it'd make a great birthday cake.
