Stayed at the Inn three times and looking forward to the fourth. Why you ask? Location - you can say that over and over. All the dining options at the five resorts around the lake and at World Showcase. The pool and the pool bar for snacks and beverages, the activities on the Boardwalk, the Bellvue Lounge, large and airy rooms, great CMs, walking or boating to Epcot and MGM. Also a great resort to relax at!!
We've stayed at the villas once and the inn twice will stay there again in December. I've never had a room overlooking the Boardwalk I've read some say that is noisy. When we stayed at the villas we were on the ground floor right by the pool it was cool that year so the pool wasn't used very much it was very quiet. At the inn we've always had view of the courtyard looking at the garden suites and quiet pool also very quiet. We love the location and decor of the resort its our favorite. So easy to walk to Epcot we also walk to MGM on the way back we take the boat. It's so nice to have so many restaurants you can walk to.
I stayed at BWI last month, and will be back again in December. This resort is all about location, location, location. Having two theme parks and the whole Boardwalk entertainment district within walking distance can't be beat.
Haven't stayed at the Villas but stayed BWI CL on a girls trip in Feb. and LOVED it!!! Why you ask? Well...here goes... (in no particular order!)
1. Walking to MGM
2. Walking to Epcot to World showcase restaurants and a world full of food!
3. Jellyrolls - SOOOO much fun!
4. The Boardwalk
5. An Illuminations Cruise right off your dock. Ask for Jeff if you can snag him - he is wonderful.
6. FABULOUS concierge staff - I can't say enough about all they did for us.
7. The bakery and those chocolate croissants...
8. The Flying Fish Cafe
9. Smaller hotel and easy to get around.
I LOVED it! But...I do feel BWI is probably best suited for couples and those without small children. It IS child friendly - what Disney resort isn't - but with my kids, I'd choose BC or YC if you want to stay in Epcot area.
I really like the Boardwalk Inn and BWV. I LOVE roses and the Boardwalk has so many great rose bushes scattered about. Plus being able to walk to Epcot and MGM Studios is wonderful.
We are vacation club members so we stay at the BWV. I would love to stay once in the cottages though! Maybe we'll splurge someday.
Taking my first visit to BWI in October and can't wait! My dd(8) has been asking to stay here for several years now and we are finally doing it. Since you all seem to be veteran BI folks, tell me where I should request a room. We'd like to be fairly close to the pool and lobby area, but we do have a standard room .
As others have said, location. It's great being able to walk to two differnt parks and the other resorts around Cresant Lake. We also usually book early enough that we can get a Boardwalk View room and I like being able to sit out on the balcony and watch all the going on's, plus the Epcot fireworks at night. Out of all the times we've stayed there it's only been once where there was a noise problem and that was when ESPN was showing some big fight on their TV's and since it was on the west coast it started late.
If I'm looking for quiet then it's OKW, I can always drive over to the excitement.
Like the other say, location can't be beat! We stayed at the Inn twice this year - my husband and I like it because we can walk to Epcot. My son & I stayed there on our trip to Star Wars weekend, and he liked it because we can walk to MGM - also because it's a great set up for teens - the boardwalk is fun, it has a pizza stand, you can walk around the lake, great pools -
We're looking forward to staying again this fall (trying hard to squeez in a the Food & Wine Festival!! LOL)
My DW and DD stayed at the BWV and absoultely loved it. Walking out of our room onto the boardwalk was just so much fun. Plenty of places to eat and visit and getting to the parks was easy. We never noticed any noise problems at all.
We are going to try the BCV this Sept but I would definetly recommend the BW. Have a great time!
We love it too! We're DVC and always stay at BCV or BWV. We've never been bothered by noise, even when we've had a BW View room. My 81yo Dad and I were just talking about that the other day actually because he was reading the Unofficial Guide and read were some people say it's noisey. And believe me, Dad is easily bothered (makes him nervous) by noisey hectic situations and he said he didn't find it so at all. Of course, I always take him during the cooler less busy times, but there was still a lot of activity on the BW.
I prefer the BCV or BWV for the same reasons already stated here. When I take my grandkids we like BCV for all the above and Stormalong Bay pool. When I take Dad or other adults I always book BWV. Dad uses a scooter and we can do three parks without having to deal with getting him on/off the buses which makes it easier on him.
Stayed there once and going again in September. We have only stayed at the Inn. I loved it. The CM's are so nice and friendly, the resort isn't huge, there are a million dining options and I LOVE Illuminations so it ups my chances of seeing it multiple times per trip. This is a really great resort.
I've stayed at the Inn and loved it. The CMs were really nice. The atmosphere was very relaxing, but excitement is just a few short steps away on the Boardwalk! Try it!
great hotel. The only downfall is that you must travel through the lobby to get to most of the rooms. After walking the parks and having three tired, cranky, sweaty children, you feel a little uncomfortable walking in the lobby.

True if you've taken a bus from somewhere. But if you're coming back on the boats from EC/MGM you can get to the elevators on the 1st floor (over by the game room/fitness center) and never have to go through the lobby.
