be sure to buy a bag of Morning Joe's blend when it comes out. Starbucks is giving $5 a bag to education.
LOVE Starbucks, can't afford to buy it all the time but we do get it a couple times a week.

I like just fresh home-made coffee. I do not yet roast on my own, but this is a plan for the future. If you grind the coffee beans yourself right before brewing you have a fresh delicious cup of Joe and if you buy whole green beans and do your own and roast it at home it is even fresher and you get it for a fraction of the price of a cup of coffee anywhere.

I like it, but I'd rather have Community Coffee, all things considered.
Me, too. I like some of Starbucks' drinks, most especially the Salted Caramel, Peppermint Mocha, and Chocolate Covered Cherry lattes. But, I would give anything if Community Coffee would open stores outside Louisiana!!! I love CC, and I'm thankful I can at least buy their ground coffee at the grocery store to make at home.

My brother roasts his own beans in a popcorn popper. I used to grind my own, but I somehow broke two grinders and then decided I was not meant to have a home grinder and gave up! I use a press pot, which, IMHO makes a better cup than a drip coffee maker.

Starbucks is like McDonalds. Same product at every location so they are a good measure to compare other companys with.

They are in the same boat as Krispy Kreme, their product isn't good enough to justify the price they are asking, which is why both have strugged so much in the recent economy downturn.

Ya know, this is extreme misinformation. Starbucks business is booming, sales are up - up a lot. Infact, in the third quarter of this year, their revenue is up 12%. They have reported an increase each quarter this year. I don't often call people on their opinion statements but yours is sooooo wrong and you just stated it like it was a fact. Just sayin'

I never heard of that! Neat.

Love Starbucks! Especially their Casi Cielo blend. Usually, I get an iced caramel macchiato but in the fall I always get the iced pumpkin spice latte.

Fact. They closed 5% of their stores. Great if sales at the remaining stores. But there are still fewer stores.

Fact: They announced a 5% closure and layoff of 1200 baristas on July 2, 2008. Time passes doesn't it? They reorganized and it was smart; they had overdeveloped. Their reorganization paid off. Smart management and profitable business for the last two years.

Like I said: The Morning Joe Blend has just come out and Starbucks will be donating $5 per bag to educational charity DonorsChoose.org. The sticker on the bags allows the purchaser to direct their $5 to schools in their own neighborhood if they choose.

My daughter works part time as a Barrista at Starbucks and they are super busy at all times. Her particular store stays open until midnight every night, and never slows down. She has had people banging on the doors as she is closing at midnight begging for one more cup.

She occasionally works the drive-thru and said that she will see the same customer come thru the drive-thru 2-3 times in her 4-hour shift. People are definitely seriously addicted to it.

As for me, I like their specialty drinks more than their brewed coffee. I get them free all the time though, so I can't complain at all. I've ever been one to kick a gift horse in the mouth.

I don't drink coffee but I love their Chai Tea Latte. I now buy the tetra packs and make my own, it is cheaper.

I only drink their iced coffees and hot chocolate. I don't like the taste of their regular coffees.

Yes, but I usually get a frap. The nearest SB to me is about an hour away, so I don't get them often. We do have some SB for our Tassimo

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but Starbucks is one of the few that I do like. I especially like their Christmas Blend and their Via Iced coffee packs.

I'm the same way! I can't stand any coffee but I also love their chai lattes. I sprinkle cinnamon in it.

I like their coffee but I rarely go out of my way to go there. Except for fall. For some reason every September I kick off my fall with a soy pumpkin spice latte

I love it and I love coffee. It's a Northwest thing (the coffee-loving), like Subarus and hiking boots, everyone has them/likes them. I love Starbucks because they're relatively cheap (I get an americano, I know other drinks are more) and they're VERY convenient (there's 10 within 3 miles of my suburban house, 6 of them are drive-thru). There are also like 20 other coffee places.

I have had the burnt taste before and that's when they burn the espresso shots, which can be really bad when you have an americano. I don't hate it though, it's usually not too bad anyway.

Is the figure of 17,000 locations in 55 countries before or after your "fact"?

:sad2:

I believe it was in the U.S., but if you have questions
Google Starbucks closures.

My son's girlfriend was a barrista for about three years. I got coffee free, too, until the regional manager came in while someone was giving one of the theatre managers next door a free coffee. The store manager was fired and subsequently all the rules were followed. No more free coffee for friends and relatives. DS's girlfriend had to transfer to a different store, too, b/c both she and her sister worked there, which isn't allowed.
