Reflecting on semantics and word choice this morning. I know board-ers like to shortcut how they talk about eligibility for perks with color because of multiple varying restrictions based on year purchased. But the whole blue card/white card bothers me in a general way that labels rather than describes. The whole “color” thing brings up separation of black and white groups and kinda surfaces negative connotations for me. One with less privileges as the other. In my imaginary world, I prefer something else to describe it. I don’t know what, because it can’t be as simple as direct and resales. Maybe DVC Members with required DVD points vs. DVC members. I don’t know what the answer is. Open to discussing because maybe it’s just me.

If there is any sort of distinction between the two then it really makes no difference to me what they want to call it. Either way one group has access to some things that the other group does not. Direct vs resale doesn't work and having to type out 'Qualified/Not Qualified for Membership Extras Member" isn't going to happen in a community that abbreviates everything. There is a built in difference (white card vs blue card) that we all understand so I don't see any reason to change that, aside from DVC changing it in the new year when new cards come out.

Mandatory DVD Minimum owners are a subset of All DVC so i guess it’s not really a Versus. It just seems that way on some occasions.

I think the only reason its labeled that way is because Disney calls it a Blue Card and if you are resale only the digital card is white (if I remember correctly).

I was looking today as one of my memberships is eligible and the other is not.

It says Membership Card for the blue card account and membership identification for the white card. So, they do use different terms.

Personally, having blue card vs white card references is not something that bothers me in anyway.

Actually, what they should do is simply eliminate it for those not eligible for perks. Then there is no confusion and no need to worry.

If it needs to be changed, I'd go with qualified (for ME) vs non-qualified.

But to me, blue vs white has no meaning beyond a short cut to describe who is entitled to Membership Extras and who is not. FWIW, any Member can change his/her card color via a purchase or a sale, so I can't see how it is a case of negative labeling. JMHO. YMMV.

The problem with qualified vs non-qualified is that we already have to use those terms for the points themselves even amongst blue/white members. A member (either white or blue) can have both qualified and non qualified points so then we'd have qualified members with qualified and non qualified points and non qualified members with qualified and/or non qualified points lol. Pure madness! Lol.
