Do you let your kids open a gift on Christmas EVE?

Since Santa doesn't bring any gifts until after everyone is asleep on Christmas Eve, there are no gifts for DD5 & DS7 to open before they go to bed. :)

Are all the gifts to the kids from Santa? There are none from you? Just curious. I see a lot of posters that like to take credit for most of the gifts and some that don't. My kids get a Christmas eve gift from mom and dad. The rest of our giftd to them and those from Santa get opened Christmas morning.

my mom would always let us open 1 gift each on christmas eve, but we would get to pick it b/c Santa would always bring the big gifts.

nope
santa doesn't get here till christmas Day---

and we don't take credit for anything---
EVERYTHING even those dropped off by Grandparents , Aunts and cousins etc is form SANTA.

We grew up thinking that santa left presents at our friends and neigbors houses so we could exchange them and spread Christmas Cheer.

Our famly is me, DH, and DD6. Our tradition is that after church on Christmas Eve we come home and gorge ourselves on "appetizer" kinds of foods. Because I am really involved at church there's no time to cook...so we have cheeses, pepperoni, shrimp, mozzerella sticks, heated puff pastry things, etc. Then, we exchange gifts from each other. We always give each other a book, a pair of PJs and one or two other things. Then, everything DD gets (and all 3 of us get a stocking) on Christmas morning is from Santa.

We always give pajamas on Christmas eve.....still do and kids are 23 and 26.
And they get to open one present ....of their choosing. It was (and is) always so important to choose just the right one. They don't want clothes  It has to be something fun to keep them occupied that evening until bed time.
Agonizing decision :teeth:

yep -we open three gifts...

xmas pj's
an ornament
and then one that is a family gift like a movie to watch that night or a game to play.

No, The gifts on Christmas eve are from the family. I also give my children PJ's and they also are older 22,20,16 & 15. They really seem to look forward to this. We also exchange with each other. All the presents on Christmas morning are from the jolly old man himself. Santa!

I have siblings, and the youngest is my brother, 7 years younger than I am. When he was about 7 years old, my parents gave in to our incessant pleas to open one present on Christmas Eve. Each of us carefully chose one present to open. My goofy little brother picked a present, opened it and got a sweater. Poor kid cried. We have never let him forget it :rotfl2:

We usually opened one or two, but almost always because my other grandparents came over, or we were over there, and we opened the gifts from them. Then on Christmas morning, my parents and I opened gifts under the tree....then later that day we would celebrate with my grandparents and my aunt, uncle & cousins.

With my kids, I let them open one of Christmas Eve. This year I've been letting them open several beforehand cause the gifts won't stop coming! They opened gifts with MIL two weeks ago when she was here. I let them open some gifts that came in the mail from my aunt a couple days ago. Santa personally hand delivered about 20 gifts last night (a HUGE family here in our town wanted to sponsor a military family this Christmas & they heard about us....last night was the delivery, and OH MY GOSH, we are SPOILED), and Santa let them open one gift last night. My best friend came over today and the kids opened the gifts from her....

My kids have never opened any gifts on Christmas Eve.....even now at 16 & 17 they have to wait until Christmas morning to open their gifts.

I even tell them now..........no squeezing or shaking and just gentle touches......and no lifting to see how heavy it is.:flower:
