with me and my son, if i can change the person to me and my husband? I am assuming I can, maybe there is a fee? My husband seems to think you can't change the person once you book it.

Any thoughts?

I think that once a flight is booked it is non transferable. The best you may be able to do is cancel one of the tickets for a fee and then book a new ticket.
Makes you kind of long for the innocent times of about 15 years ago. DW was going to New Mexico with the family and her brother decided not to go. They gave me the ticket and I was never once asked for ID. That was when you could show up 15 minutes before your flight and get through security and still make the plane which was what DW and FiL did.

I just checked the website, and that is the first rule in the list. No changing of names!

Guess I'll have to pay the fee to cancel that ticket and purchase a new one.

Seems like a lot of work!

You'd never get away with that now. Especially going out of the country!

Times have changed for sure!

Depending on the airline, even if you cancel, the rebooking can only be done for the original passenger.

SWA is an exception to this. You could book you and your son. And then if your son didn't go, cancel and you would get ticketless travel funds, that would then be used to book you and your husband.

I'm not familiar with alot of the other discount carriers, so not sure of their rules.

Either way, I'd book you and your son on different confirmation numbers to ease and cancellation you may decide to do.

That's not always true. I know that when I booked all three of us on JetBlue back in Nov, when I had to cancel the flights, I was given all the credits back into my JB acct. If I pay for them, I get the refund...doesn't matter who the ticket was for.
I know my ex-dh's wife made flight reservations for my dd, to fly to Florida with them but has had to cancel the return leg for dd. I think they are flying AA, so I'll have to ask her what they did as far as crediting her for that flight, since she paid the bill but one seat was for dd. I would think she would get the credit rather than my dd getting it or having to rebook using that credit herself.

I have changed the name on a ticket with 4 different airlines (NWA, Sun Country, Air Tran and one other (can't remember which one) for a fee ranging from $0 to $60. Call to check. Worst they can say is "no."
