a bathing suit and matching cover up, hot sunglasses(the minnie ones!) a cute hat (for both of you) cute sandals and a pedicure...you go , girlfriend!

I love this!

I agree totally with Divamomto3. Pajamas are for bed, ballgowns are for the prom and bathingsuits are for the pool. @_@

I never spend any time inspecting anyone's fat at the pool, but I am still self-conscious of my own. If I am carrying some extra pounds, I wear a tee shirt over my suit sometimes and sometimes just the bathing suit. It sounds like what you have planned will be fine.

Great story, Janet2K!

Here is a crazy idea--- while even modest women's suits just cover the hip, plenty of the men's "shorts" type suits just come to the knee. Why not buy a men's suit for the shorts, and then buy as the top one of those "tankini" tops (Lands End sells the pieces separately.) Then you'd be wearing a real bathing suit that dries well but you'd still be able to cover legs and thighs the way you like.

It sounds crazy but I'm envisioning it and I think it would look kind of cool.

Jen D..........GREAT IDEA !!!

You may have started something!

I would love to wear that outfit.

It is the bottom half I prefer to cover!
And the ladies tankini just doesn't do that!

The plus, as you said, is the dry factor!

Another vote for the Lands End suits here. I think you will be fine if you choose your shorts and t but personally I don't find that comfortable.

I always had to swim with a t as a kid and its soooo uncomfortable especially when you get out. I would rather put a dry one on after swimming, ymmv. I got a nice suit from lands end and some quick dry shorts and that works best for me. I find my kids have me more in and out than just in so when out I pop on a tshirt and take it off when in the pool. fwiw I do know how you feel as WDW is the only place I wore my suit this year!!

Do what your comfy with and enjoy swimming with your dd.

I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in!
Im very insecure in a bathing suit and I wear shorts over my suit.
Because it makes ME feel comfortable and Im not what some would think of as big Im like a size 4.It doesnt matter what size you are everyone, Or I wont say everyone but ALot of people want to be what they are not if you are a 14 you want to be a 10 If you are a 3/4 you want to be a 1!! So just go and enjoy! I promise more peole are worried with the way they look they will not even be thinking about you!! :)
Enjoy thepool and your DD!! :)

Why not wear the spandex shorts over a nice fitting swim suit? That's what my sister does. She likes the spandex better than the nylon swim shorts because they don't ride up like the swim shorts. Junonia.com sells swim wear that actually goes down to the knees.

Their suits fit great. I wear a size 14 and their suits leave me feeling covered. They truly do not ride up on rear! Your time is getting short though so go to their website, order up a bunch or ones that look like they may work and try them all on when they come. Be sure to send them back asap too! They do deliver really quickly!

Personally I think wearing a t-shirt and shorts would be more likely to draw people's attention than a regular suit, but if that is only way you feel comfortable then go for it! As long as you aren't doing anything rude you only need to worry about you and your DD!

I agree with this. You will see people of all shapes and sizes in and around the pools, but almost all of them will be wearing swimming suits. I personally think you would "stick out" more wearing spandex shorts and a tank top because you would be most likely the only person at the pool dressed like that. But if that is what you feel most comfy in, go for. One caution though - some of cotton and spandex clothes shed dye. You should probably make sure your clothes have been washed many time before you get in the pool so any dye has already come out. That's one of the reasons I've heard for some pools not allowing "non-swimming suits" in the pool.

I am definately a pooh sized woman who wears a bathing suit at WDW. What is great about Disney is that there are so many people of different sizes and shapes. I walk around Typhoon Lagoon or around the hotel pool and it is no big deal. I know what you mean about being self conscious but truly, at WDW, everyone is too busy having a good time to notice who has problem areas. Have fun!

I say do whatever make you happy within the rules. I'm a plus size woman and have fair skin so i'm always wearing a tee shirt over my swimsuit. My problem was that i didn't like all the layers it produce but needed a top for support. I found a website call Junonia that solved that i now wear there swimbra and a tee shirt with various swim bottoms. They have a swimsuit that is lose fitting that they call a swimdress. The prices are more expensive but these suits last. I hope the above help and have a great trip.

Land's end is great. I've got a Tugless Tank. and they have shorts that match in the same fabric. Also the Sport Tankini that others have mentioned would be good, too. Have fun!

You will see HUGE lovely women in string bikinis, I am not kidding. Europeans especially like to let it all hang out -- and good for them! Look in Land's End, they have cute suits with matching shorts. I actually got shorts at K-mart over my suit, but they got too baggy when wet, so I got surf shorts in Old Navy. I say if the guys don't need to have their butts hanging out why do we??

I am a plus size woman (18-20) and I wear a 1 piece bathing suit with a pair of mens soild colored swimming trunks over it. It usuall ycomes out much cheaper than the lands end suits mentioned, and I get to try them on ahead of time. I also wear the swimming trunks in he parks as shorts with a t shrit or tank top. That way I can still get soaked on the wet rides, and my bottoms dry out fast.

I think you can wear anything but a thong (and maybe they don't say anything about those either). I could not believe what people wore in the parks, let alone the pools. Many gals were wearing t-shirts with out bras coming off the water raft in Animal Kingdom, and we saw them through out the day..and they still were see through..and judging by a few remarks we overheard from some male CM's..it was well enjoyed. Some guys had no shirts on in all 4 parks..and many, many gals were wearing either just bikini tops, or a few just bras (or they found see through bikini tops that look and adjust like bras), with the skimpiest shorts I've ever seen (and of course many of their thongs showed as they walked through the parks (both because of light colors that got wet, or light colors with dark thongs, or because the top of the thongs were higher than the top of the shorts)...and some of the shorts were cut so low, I guess the razor got a work out! So dont' worry about the pools.

I was feeling very old this past week LOL!

I agree with the people who think you may draw more attention by swimming in shorts and a tee, though, in the long run, I also think you should do what you want to do. I don't know if you've been to Disney before, but there are all sorts of body types and it's doubtful anyone would notice you in a well-fitting suit with or without an oversized tee.

Run, don't walk, to the Lands'End website. Nothing you can fashion for yourself will be more comfy or well-made. If I ever get to size 8 again -- unlikely -- I will still wear their suits. What Mom doesn't need a little extra coverage when chasing little ones around the pool?

They have wonderful two-piece suits with a skirt or shorts bottom half. They come in sizes 6-26 and the womens' sizes are quite generous. Some have shelf bras, some cups, some come with either! The fabrics are meant for chlorine so they hold up well and dry off quickly. My favorite is the "skirted tankini" because it has a high-cut top... less to sumburn and no bosoms flying out at the pool!

Have fun!

You guys are all so wonderful to be so supportive! I was just toying with the idea of swimming at WDW and now you've convinced me to go for it. My neighbor showed me a Junonia catalog and I'm going to order one of those suits. The one I have now is okay, but I need something with a high neck line. My, ahem, floatation devices have to be kept in place.

Between the pool and the jacuzzi in our room I'm going to be awfully wrinkled!!!
