This may seem like an absolutely ridiculous question, but do you have to take a hotel upgrade? I have seen on these boards that people have booked in Cheyenne for instance, and have been upgraded to a higher star hotel such as Newport Bay. I realise you have to be lucky to be upgraded in the first place, and I am sure that Newport Bay is a lovely hotel, but we have booked Cheyenne hotel and we have our heart set on staying here! So, silly as it may be, do you have to accept an upgrade to another hotel?

No Im sure you dont have to as they would just offer it to someone else.

When we stayed at Cheyenne last Easter we chose it for the bunkbeds as DS was with us as well so we didnt want him to have to share a bed with his little sister so if we'd been offered an upgrade we would have refused

We've got two rooms at the Cheyenne in July, and we've booked for the bunkbeds as my two are 13 (boy) and 5 (girl) when we go and they will NOT share a bed lol.

If they upgraded both of our rooms I'd make sure my Dad took it AND one of the kids!!

No, you absolutely can stay in your original choice of hotel if you want to.
When we were offered our upgrade, our CM said "if you wish", and it would have been perfectly okay to say No, and stay where we were :)

Nice to know though that we wouldnt have to accept an upgrade! :thumbsup2

No but i know someone who got upgraded from the Santa Fe to the DLH....now that is a upgrade anyone would be silly to refuse lol.

A family did get this upgrade around Christmas time - the lady is a member here, and posted about it :goodvibes . It was because the HNY was overbooked.

My DH workmate's wife went and was supposed to stay at (I am sure it was) SF ... got there and upgrade to DLH. Thought DH had got it wrong but sounds like it is possible - one can dream:cloud9:

We were due to stay in Santa Fe and when we arrived at 11pm we were told that they had none of the rooms left we had booked (with two double beds) and they said that they would give us a room with one big bed in and a camp bed. The lady at he front desk said we could then transfer in the morning and gave us our key cards and a free soft drink coupon for the bar to use while they were getting the camp bed delivered.

We went to the room to drop off the luggage and it was tiny. The bed was not big just a standard double and no room for a camp bed unless it was put by the bathroom in the hallway. We were disappointed but I didn't want to start complaining and ruining our holiday.

We went to the bar for the free drink and a cast member asked us why we had received the free drink coupon. I told him that our room we had booked was not available and we now had to go through the inconvenience of having to switch rooms in the morning.

So we were transfered over to Sequioa Lodge at midnight!

We were very happy there it was much better than Santa Fe!

Oh well, the trick is then that you try a very late check in!!:rolleyes1

I'll be happy as long as i get the inteconnecting rooms i've asked for. But would absolutely love a free upgrade that includes VIP fastpasses - now that would be a result. :cool1:
