A guy came into work yesterday with the most delish candy/snack thing, that I think I went to heaven. His wife makes this, so I asked him how she does it. All he could tell me was this......

Line a baking sheet with saltine crackers, the she melted butter & sugar and poured it over the crackers, baked that for sometime. Then take them out of the oven & while hot dump chocolate chips on top (But I think she must have melted the chips along with a touch of butter or something) Then she topped it off with crushed nuts. It was all broken up like a chocolate bark. It was so goooooood. Do you know what I'm talking about and have the recipe?

I'm also going to put this over on the recipe board and see if someone has it over there.

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers in single layer.
In a saucepan combine the sugar and the butter. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Immediately pour over saltines and spread t cover crackers completely.
Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for 5 minutes. Spread melted chocolate and top with chopped nuts. Cool completely and break into pieces.

Got it at Allrecipes, have made it before and it is super easy.

Also, instead of white chocolate chips, you can spread peanut butter chips on top of the saltines after they come out of the oven. Then put in the freezer or fridge until hard. Then spread a bag of melted milk chocolate chips on top of that. While that is still soft, push down on top of that, about 8-10 crumbled Reeses Cups.

My recipe calls for the saltine/butter mixture to bake for 15 minutes at 350.

ETA: line your cooke sheet with aluminum foil!!!!

Make sure you follow the boiling and baking times exactly or it won't harden.I've heard this called Christmas Crack, because you break it up. I think it's crack becasue I can't stop eating it.;)

I have also made it with graham crackers and its wonderful. If you make it with the graham crackers, just leave the chocolate chips off.

And you don't need to melt the chocolate chips, the toffee topping is hot enough to melt them when you pour them on.

One of our youth advisors at church makes this- she calls it 'candy crack' because it is so addicting!

so easy to make - I used dark brown sugar the last time I made these and didn't like it as well as light brown sugar, the taste was too intense. I'd rather focus on the chocolate....

I've used regular semi-sweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips, the milk chocolate makes them taste like a boughten Heath bar, but I prefer the dark chocolate.

my other tip is to line the bar pan with foil, makes it so much easier to get them out of the pan, just lift them out and peel the foil off. You can cut them into squares or break into random chunks.

I made these yummy chocolate covered saltines last C'mas and they were quite the hit!! :goodvibes

This year our DD did the Ritz crackers w/peanut butter in middle, then covered w/melted chocolate. Can't you just taste the divine sinfulness now?!?!

I have been looking for this recipe for YEARS! Thank you so much!

I have had these but they were R rated. A woman at my church makes them but they have alcohol in them. She ahs made them kid friendly too. They are good either way.

Forget foil. I always use parchement paper. I had an issue with the foil once!

Hilarious! My sis did the same thing and it was too "bitter" for some reason.
