I just got a Canon S3 for mother's day and found the neck strap to be too scratchy when I took it out for an afternoon of hiking.
I was wondering if anyone has, or knows about these straps. I like that they can hold memory cards.

I'm looking at the N-5055 or the N-5057 but am open to suggestions if you have a different kind.
My 35mm camera had a very comfy tapestry one but I didn't even think to salvage it.

Here's the link to the straps

Thanks

First, your link is bad. You've got two http's, which leads you to some crummy bogart search page.

Any decent neoprene strap is going to be a lot better then the typical OEM strap. The most popular one amongst gear heads seems to be the Op/tech. I couldn't tell you why.

I usually just use a handstrap.

I have an opt tech.... Which I really like, but honestly I don't hang it from my neck that often. Most of the time my strap is just wrapped around my wrist a few times. When I upgrade bodies later this year, I will also be moving to a hand strap.

I don't have that kind, but I have a Tamrac bag and love it.

I have an op/tech strap and it is great. I have neck problems and this strap does not aggrivate them nearly as much as a regualr strap. Like Master Mason, I am looking into a hand strap/ wrist grip as well.

Sorry about the link, I had to leave right after posting so I didn't check it. I think it's fixed now.

How does a hand strap attach? This camera only has one attachment point on the grip side. (two total but both on the top)

For some reason I have a new "add image" pop up box. It aready has http:// and it is not highlighted for pastig the URL. so it doubles itself.

I have to delete it every time. Funny thing is at work I still have the older version of script.

Most of the hand straps hook on one side and the tripod mount on the bottom

I've never used a handstrap with a p&s. With my DSLRs, the handstrap attaches at the top right (where the neck strap goes) and at the bottom right (top of the portrait grip).

op-tech has been around longer but the Tamrac neoprene one looks okay too, especially for a p&s. Not sure I would go with the hand strap for your camera - you don't want to be holding it in your hand the whole time. Do you have a camera store where you can go look at them and try them out? That would be your best bet.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I had originally intended to go to a store and check them out, only the closest store is more than an hour away. So I posted here to see if anybody had one.

I think I need to stick to the neck strap because the kids are always needing something from the backpack or just a hand to hold.

My only issue with the neoprene straps is that the color layer will fray and begin to come off over time. I like the comfort of the neoprene, I just need to find one that has a rolled edge so that the top layer doesn't come off. I have the same problem with mouse pads. I guess Trina is right, I am too rough around the edges.

I'm like Master Mason, I rarely carry the camera around my neck. Maybe I should be looking at a hand strap. I would consider the OpTech Grip Strap but it looks difficult to get your hand in and out of. I like my camera a lot, I am just not sure I want it strapped to my hand like a rodeo bull rider.

My optech strap is black and is sewed with nice seams so the neoprene will not come off. Forget the model but I believe it is the classic strap. I have them on both my DSLRs, have had the first one for over 5 years now and have never had a problem.

I have the classic Op/Tech strap on my SLR---over 10 years no problems. (Back then it was being marketed for video cameras.)
I have a slightly wider version on the DSLR. The wider/newer strap seems of have some type of no slip material on it.

I generally carry the camera on my shoulder. I find the strap makes it feel a bit lighter than the standard Canon strap.
