Do you have more points or less points than you had five years ago?

I guess this poll is only for us veterans who have been DVC members for five years or more.

The question is clear (I hope) and simple.

Do you own more points or less points now than you did five years ago?

Just 50 more points than 5 years ago. We initially bought in 2002, and within that first year we added 135 more points. However, since then, we've only done 50 more.

I didn't own points 5 years ago. However we do own more points than when we first bought in Jan. 07!!!!

They told us when we purchased in 2000 that 95% of owners will add on at some point.(lets see if your poll reflects this). I told mt DW that we will not be one that adds on. Well two add ons later we went from 240 points to 500 points. My latest was due to the current price of resale market, I just couldn't resist.

If you really want to sell, Disneynutz, go ahead and try the market. I was suprised to get just about the same price for a VB contract yesterday as I did for one a year ago and even for one two years ago.

The number of members, and therefore interested customers, has increased even though the overall economy has tanked.

we own more. Let's see. Five years ago we owned at bcv and wlv.

We bought 225 points at ssr, but we sold them just before akv came out, then we bought 150 points at akv. So it would have been less, but we got 160 points at blt when it came out. So net we have more now.

In 2002 we started our membership with 200 VWL points. We now own 750 pts at VWL, BCV, OKW, AKL. No plans to add on, we have just enough points to visit 3-4 times a year and give our adult children nice vacations in WDW when they want.

Over the last 2-3 years I have been selling. I have sold all my points at Vero Beach and Hilton Head. I bought some more OKW and a little BLT. My total points , however, are down from 550 to 390.

I was just wondering if there are a significant number of people (My guess was 20%) who are doing the same thing as I am doing.

So far my guess was wrong. It looks like no more than 10%.

I had 1100 points (or something like that, I don't even remember) and sold off everything that wasn't OKW. I now am down to 686 and the dues are much more reasonable. Funny thing is, I did not lose any money on DVC at all, and I remember way back when someone had said that DVC is not an investment <g>.....I got all my money back and was able to enjoy vacations with those points....I think DVC was one of the best things I ever did!
