Do you have housekeeping to do?

Why is it that with all of the extra work there is to do around Christmas, that the OTHER more mundane work, like laundry, dusting, sweeping, etc. doesn't just go away?

I could use Sorceror Mickey and his magic brooms right aboot now.

I actually spent the whole day Sunday cleaning and doing laundry so that I wouldn't have to worry about them as much for a few days...of course the laundry with 4 boys never is "completely" done, but at least it was for a few minutes!

My DH slipped on ice yesterday and hurt his shoulder pretty good, so instead of help yesterday, he laid around wincing and moaning from the pain. I know that he was hurting, but he kept asking what I had done around the house. Everything is straightened, but nothing is dusted or mopped yet because the electrician had to come to the house this morning to install the new chandelier that we had to have before Christmas. That was HIS idea, not mine. They had to cut a larger hole in the dining room ceiling to install a box that will support the heavier light fixture. The old one was screwed into the lathe. I can only imagine the dust that we'll contend with tonight.

I told DH that I have one more batch of cookies to bake tonight and then they all have to be iced. I can take enough pity on him to not make him vacuum and dust, but HE is frosting and decorating cookies tonight with the kids.

This will all be after work, and after I go for groceries. If only I could contract with God to give me a few more hours.

I'll stop venting now. How do I get one of those brooms?

BAH HUMBUG!!! I too have a whole lot of cleaning to get done and guess who is home sick....someone that isn't going to be able to help me a whole lot....oh well, probably just better if I do it myself anyway!!!!!

I'm ashamed to say that I have been ducking cleaning the bathroom for 3 days. I MUST DO IT tonight.

For some insane OCD-like reason, I think my house needs to be spotless around Christmas, and I'm not even hosting any parties! I guess my neat freak Dad influenced me a little too much. I actually washed a couple floors today. That was probably stupid, due to the fact that it's snowing out and I have a big dog that comes stomping in with snow all over her.

I'll take a sorcerer broom too. :D

Me too, have housework to do that is...and what am I doing? DISing...again!! :D

I did manage to get the kitchen cleaned up this morning, and vacuumed the office and family room this afternoon but I MUST get the rest of the vacuuming and dusting done TONIGHT so that all I'll have to do in the morning is clean the BATHROOMS then the cleaning will be DONE!! :bounce:

Thankfully DH agreed to go to the grocery store for me in the morning. We got the bulk of the groceries last night, but still have a couple "last minute" things to get and pick up the cake from the bakery dept. and the veggie tray from the deli dept. I'm so glad I don't have to get out and do it!! :)

You don't even wanna know.....

Boots always has housework to do!!!!!:o

before my parents come over. I went to go do a few loads of laundry and with one dryer and one washer for 9 different families. it was impossible to get to. I hate apartment life, I miss my washer and dryer, 1.00 to wash and 50 cents to dry and it cost more like 100 to dry. close dont dry in 50 minutes.

I should have been cleaning but i was orginizing my pictures.

Now, the real question... did we all get everything done yesterday? I can answer with an emphatic NO! Everything worked against me last night. The electrician who installed our chandelier cut the hole too big, so instead of being able to put my dining room back together, I got to spackle the hole in the ceiling. The cookies that I was supposed to bake were so hard from sitting overnight in the refrigerator that I couldn't dream of baking them. (Darn that butter for getting so hard.)

Am I stressing? Heck no. Christmas will come whether my house is spotless or not. I have to go home and make some calamari sauce, smelts and shrimp when work ends today, at 1:00, and we have to be at my parent's house by 4:00 for dinner. I just hope that my DH or the kids vacuum once more for me before we leave the house today.
