do you have friends who go with you

In our 14 years as members, we always have friends or family go with us. I don't think we have ever had a 1 bed room or a studio, but have had numerous Grand Villas. Family is usually easy to convince to go, but most friends start out a little skeptical. DW and I are golfers and most of our friends are also golfers. Many times we have started out using the golf as bait and then hooked the crew on the whole Disney experience. I don't think we have ever had anyone who has gone with us not like the entire experience and most beg to go back with us.

We do both, go with friends and without. All of our friends know of my obsession with Disney. And they know we have DVC. Also, all of our friends have young kids who are getting to the "Disney age" (whatever, that may be. I think it starts about 2-3 weeks after they are born ;) ). So, we keep thinking "well, we have to go with them". So, it works out that we keep bringing a different set of friends each or every other year.

The other thing that works out is they all feel they need to do something for us in exchange for us using our DVC points, so my DW and I have had a lot of babysitters for weekend getaways and free meals at Disney. The thing is we were going to go anyway and use the points regardless, but I'm not complaining. :rolleyes1

We never go alone. We used to bring my mother and sister on every trip... Then we had 1 trip where friends met us there... This past December was our 1st trip by ourselves and even then we had other friends down there that we met up with occasionally.

However, this trip we are bringing friends who have either not been there or haven't been there since MK was the only park. In our mind Newbies. We are very excited. Our children our very excited. We are pulling out all stops with this trip 8 nights BCV and DxDDP and all. I just hope our hype lives up the actual trip itself. They are not Disney people people but then again neither were we until we went. :wizard:

We have done both but really love to bring people along so they can experience DVC.....

We have brought our best friends and their kids many times - they love it and threaten to join DVC every trip! One of our friends had gone Christmas & New Years week and vowed to never go back to WDW because it was so CRAZY and crowded. We talked them into coming with us last Memorial Day week and they couldn't believe how different it was. They had a blast! They said it was like a night and day trip! We are so glad they have a different view about WDW now.....;)

This trip we are bringing my parents to help out with the kids! My parents have never been so it should be tons of fun. Plus DH and I will get a night out alone!! :cool1:

We also have great friends who are DVC members that go at the same time as we do. They stay in their own villa and we meet up almost everyday to go to the parks and have dinner together!

HeatherAnne :) :) :)

We've only owned at DVC for a little less than a year now, but we are bringing my mom and stepdad to SSR with us this summer. And hopefully we can get 2br at HHI for Aug 2009 for us and my brothers family. After that, I think we will be shooting for GV at AKV in 2010 or 2011. :goodvibes

I have taken my father and and his wife(total 6) then just a girlfriend and I went with no kids or husbands and that was great and then a girlfriend and her son and myself and 2 kids but this next trip is the biggest of all, another family is coming along with a grand total of 11 of us (4adults and 7kids). I'm excited but a little apprehensive too. They are all really close in age (they are a Brady Bunch Family) and have been friends for a long time and are close as family which means that they fight like brother and sisters too. We are getting two 2BR at OKW for 5 nights and they have many friends who work at WDW and will be able to get passes for themselves(we have AP) and they will be paying for the DDP for all of us. I know it is a lot less then what they would have to pay for the rooms out of pocket but they would never afford to take this trip without us doing the rooms and friends getting tickets. I think we figured they are saving about $5,000 if they had to pay for everything. I know we will have a blast and that this is the only way for the kids to see Disney so it make it worth it to spend the extra points.

your upcoming trip sounds great. how nice of you to share with your friends. i have also done that and have just given a few nights to friends or family to go on their own.

i feel it important to bring a little joy to the lives of others when i can afford to do so.

i have been thru many years of financial struggles and there were no vacations at all for myself or my daughter because i could not afford it. my father was a very wealthy man who vacationed very often and always took many friends and family with him, but never took me along because my husband was deceased and i would be alone. sounds cruel i know, but it is supprising how many people feel that way about life.:sad2:

as long as i can afford it, i will share what i have with others because it gives me pleasure and i can show people how much fun disney can be.:thumbsup2
