do you have friends who go with you

We have been inviting friends and family to come with us ever since my wife and I have been going to WDW together. No takers. We joined DVC in 2006 and still no takers. We did get them to HHI for Thankgiving past, and plan to get them there for Christmas this year (we got a Grand Villa and everything!)

We just can't get them to WDW. You would think a free stay at a hotel would be a good thing!

we go with friends of ours all the time!! we ahve invited them along on three of our last Diseny Trips and they have stayed with us in our DVC on two of those trips (the first time was before we were DVC memebrs so we all just stayed together at AKL in separate rooms). we have traveled other places with this couple and we travel well together. we got them hooked on the magic of Disney and now I hear them talking about the cost vs benefits of DVC... LOL. when we have shared a 2BR lock off we still maintained our own scheduels etc. we had some things planned each day together but did a lot of our own thing (as we had a toddler and they did not) they even offered to babysit one night so we could ahve an adult meal.

I guess we have lots of Disney loving friends and family as we rarely ever go alone!!! The best part is we do not pay for our friends accomadations, some also own DVC others pay for their own resort villa or hotel room. We have travelled with one family (DH's college roomate) five times. Our next trip with them is to HHI in June all the rest have been to WDW. In Nov. a good friend of mine who I met during college is coming with us plus her DH's parents and sister's family. All of whom we have vacationed with before two summers ago. They also all own DVC. Over the years we have also travelled with one of my best friends from high school and her family and another of DH's college roomates family. This past Nov. we had all family come with us, both sets of grandparents, DBro and DSil, and cousins who live in FL. The more the merrier is our motto and makes each trip special!!! :)

My DS, only child, always brings friends and we've had two family reunions so far in the GV AT OKW. A lot of friends and family members would like the use of my DVC but at 210 points We hog it all to ourselves. I've converted many into accepting that Disney DVC is not your typical timeshare but never to the point of an actual purchase. I guess it's easier and cheaper to sponge off me!

We have friends we go with down to HHI, and I take girl trips with friends,, while dh takes golf trips with his buddies. And this summer I am meeting some friends down there for a meet in the heat!

Oh and my BIL is coming with us in October, for the second time.

We are planning a 9 day trip to WDW in Jan. We've invited my DH's brother and family (5 total) to join us for part of the week. We live in Cali, they live in Texas, so we don't get to see them very often. They don't have alot of extra $ for traveling, so we thought since they could drive and we could cover accomodations, this would be a perfect opportunity for them to meet up with us. It will be our 1st trip as a family to WDW, hopefully we aren't biting off too much. Can't wait though!

Although we've traveled mostly on our own some of our most memorable trips have been with another couple that are close friends. They had a baby a little over a year ago and now we are taking them all with us for our first trip home to our home resort, AKV. Should be interesting as we've never traveled with a baby before! :goodvibes

DH's friend/co-worker (DVC member) invited us with them in Jan. '06. We jumped on the chance, and soon after that trip became members ourselves. For our first trip in Jan. '07, we invited two sets of friends. One joined us and the other declined. The ones that declined already had a vacation to Mexico planned in Feb, so I can understand that. After they declined we extended the invitation to DH's step brother & family, and they declined and said they would go another year. Then we invited them again for our Jan. '08 trip, and they declined again. Now we're planning to go Dec. '08, and the family that went with us the first time is going with us again. They are very excited and appreciative for the opportunity. We've extended the offer to other friends as well, and they all start getting picky about when they want to go. Like they'll say, I'd rather go next year, so I'm going to pass on this year. They know we're going for the next 40+ years, so they figure they have plenty of time to go, I guess. It makes me want to not invite them for the next 5 years so they're kicking themselves for not going when they had the chance.

We went with friends last Sept. They were at Pop though and we were at BWV. We did a few events together (PnP, Little ones extra magic hours) and then would split up and meet again at dinner. We would definitely go with them again.

We have other friends who we are dying to go with (and vice versa) but they are both teachers so we have to travel in peak season.

We've had both friends and extended family visit several times. It's been a blast, although sometimes a bit stressful. Normally, we would go our separate ways and meet at dinner....shop, work on a tan, go to a water park, etc. The extra bathrooms and laundry room make things a lot easier. On one occasion we booked 2 two-bedroom villas and another time we booked a grand villa and a studio for the "overflow" (folks who made up their minds at the last minute!). It is fun to have a large crowd. But we also really enjoy having DVC to ourselves, too! :goodvibes

We usually travel with our children and grandchildren, although, we also like going it alone on occasion. I consider traveling with my children and their families to be one of my greatest blessings. We have 3 children with the first and last 21 years apart to the day. So we need a wide range of activities to keep everyone happy and busy. Disney covers it all. Our first trip home to AKV in 2009 will include all children, grandchildren, my sister, and my MIL. Should be a good one.:rolleyes1

Like other posters, I am single. I bought into DVC because it makes it easy to vacation with my extended family and friends. It's a great place to do an annual family gathering. The pressure is off to see or ride everything in the parks. Instead, the real fun is watching friends or their kids "discover" WDW or watch my nieces explore the resort pools. And the best part is I moved 4 years ago, and I still get to see old friends by meeting up in Orlando.

I've got my fingers crossed for more years of the same.

A couple that we travel with for our non Disney vacations went with us last year for a Disney cruise followed by a 4 night stay at Disney. The last time that they were there was in 1987 with their children. To make a long story short we are going down again in Dec at their request. I think that they see why we have been going there so often since 1989. Also think they may buy resale at OKW since they liked it so much. I converted them.

i take my grandchildren and my daughter but the schools prevent me doing that often. my younger brother and his wife do like to go once in a while, so i give them a night or two. took my neice once to do the marathon. my friends all think i am crazy if i mention disney to them, so i don't say much anymore. i once met dave and david, whom i met on a abd trip to italy, at wdw for a nice reunion. they were terrific and my family enjoyed spending time with them. i do go alone sometimes and actually enjoy it.

i quess it is a place that i feel at home whether i am with familyl, friends or alone.

most people think i am waisting my time and money, but i still love it.:goodvibes

Strangely enough.....when we go as a couple or with the kids, none of the friends want to come, but when I ask a girlfriend to go on a girlfriends weekend, without the DHs and DKids, I get a YES all the time......:confused3
Wonder what that's all about:lmao: ???

to dborges, you are going to have a great time. hope your friends enjoy it as much as you do.

i have girlfriends who will go to the gambling casinos but not to disney. disney is so much more fun. they say disney is too expensive but the money spent at casinos can amount to a lot also. don't get me wrong. i do enjoy the casinos once in a while but would choose disney anyday. i guess i am a senior on the outside and a kid on the inside, i still enjoy all of the rides even if i am alone.:woohoo:

i have been a widow for 26 years now and have learned to enjoy doing a lot of things alone but my married friends think they can not go anywhere without their husbands, or that it would not work for an unmarried woman to tag along with them. so i find it easier to go alone and disney is the greatest place because everyone is friendly and it is so beautiful and relaxing. i am planning an adventures by disney trip abroad in 09, "alone", and i know i will have a great time.:thumbsup2

My DH and I went to Disney World alone several years in a row. Finally we talked some family members into joining us. Now we probably will never get to go alone again : )

All of our close friends can't understand why we would buy into the DVC. None of them like Disney like we do and none of them like crowds or rides or busy places. So......we now have new friends who are DVC owners as well who we love to travel with.

DH and I love going ourselves. We're a couple of big kids who just love running around. We've taken a bunch with us on a couple of trips (4 people on one trip 5 on another) but trying to stay together as a group can be so stressful, specially when it's crowded.

We found the best thing is getting together in the morning for a wonderful character breakfast, then heading out in different directions, maybe meet up for dinner.

Have fun whatever you do!

We go over NYE with friends who own DVC :). We usually book our own rooms and then tour together, but we have also shared 2 and 3 bedroom villas with them and we do a point transfer to even things up. They had to cancel last year and we missed them :(.
