Do you have Columbus Day "off?"

I'm just trying to get a feel for park crowds over Columbus Day weekend. I know schools in New England have a long weekend, and DD's and DH's universities have fall break at that time (Mon. and Tues. off). Is Columbus Day a local holiday in Florida? Do your state's schools have Columbus Day off?

Yep and I've been reading here Cbus day weekend gets busier every year. We were going to go that week so DS misses one less day but I'd rather not be fighting crowds so were going the following week.

Here in MS, we have the day off as well as the day after. We went this past year and it was the biggest crowd I'd ever seen at Disney (we typically travel in the off season).

We do not have Columbus Day off, we have the Thursday and Friday of that week off for teacher conventions. Some other school districts may have the whole week. I am in Wisconsin.

I moved my trip up a week, to avoid Columbus Day. I had sort of booked a trip without realizing the holiday was that week. Then I started to read the reports of large crowds.

DS has a DAS, but the crowds make it very difficult to push him around in his chair. We try and go off season, just so much easier. Last year we did an early Tuesday night (I think?) MNSSHP and it was not even crowded for that.

Thank you Southwest for allowing flights to be switched, for free. All set now.


We are in central NJ, where the kids do not get off for this "holiday".

I work at a bank and we always have Columbus Day off. The kids are off school, too (I am in Ohio).

We went last year over Columbus Day weekend due to our new weeklong fall break in our local school calendar. Parks were busier than Junes past when we've been. several CMs commented that there were a ton of people on school break from the midwest that week, particularly Indiana and Kentucky.
