Do you have any specific questions?

From what I've read, they are only doing placeholders on board, not actual cruise bookings. Maybe someone who has sailed can confirm.
This was true on the Magic. Future cruise desk was closed.

How are they doing the 5k now? I know it’s on your own, but how do you claim your medal?

You can pick up your medal at Guest Services when you get back on the ship. Just let them know you did the 5K. Might have to schedule with them through the app though.

I'm curious if the 1820 society has any activities/meet-ups or not (I know you probably won't be able to go to any, just wondering if any are occurring).

On the 8/20 sailing there were a number of activities for the 1820 society. I didn't take part since I'm so old, but I saw them on the navigator.

Another note from the 8/20 sailing- While catching up on youtube videos from the 8/9 sailing, I saw that they had a Pirate night, and while that may be a thing for the 4 night sailings, our 3 night sailing on 8/20 did not have a pirate night. Though they did do the fireworks.

This is true. All you do through the app, is throw down your $250 and they say to book at a later date with a confirmation number they provide.

I agree. Especially since the certificate (you’re really not holding a specific spot, so “placeholder” is confusing to me) has to be called in to be used.
I suppose what I would do if I am on a cruise in the future with this situation, is to purchase the placeholder as soon as I can. I assume that this is assigned to the TA I had used to book that cruise. Then email the TA with instructions to use the placeholder to book the cruise I really want as soon as booking can be made.

Well, yeah. That is how it has always worked with the future cruise certificate purchase. It just seems like an unnecessary extra step if the cruise someone wants is already on sale.

Can you please double check that you can ONLY book a certificate for a future cruise and not a specific date? It seems like with them being shorter staffed shoreside (based on hold times) it would make it easier for everyone if someone knows when they want to cruise rather than do the “Here is your certificate number. Now you or your travel agent needs to call to book the cruise you know you want right now.”

Honestly to me that is a big negative and would potentially stop me from even dealing with the hassle.

Just got off the 8/30 sailing this morning! I can confirm that the ONLY future cruise booking you can make if a placeholder. One date, 2 cabins max.
