Do you have a word that you just like to say?

Cuckoobird! or cuckoobananas! Or, I know this is a phrase, but I like saying that a negative person is "like ants at a picnic."

I enjoy nutters (as in, "That man yelling about God on the street corner is completely nutters.") and shan't (which is best used when someone wants something from you and you can give a cry of, "Shan't!"). I also quite like fortnight, thrice, and I adored calling my mum "Mamma."

I like the word hoopla, and sugar as an expletive.

I just like colorful words in general, imaginative words are an easy way to dress up my normally mundane existence. I also love when other people do it, and especially adore it when someone stumps me and I have to go look a word up, it's like finding treasure to me:thumbsup2 In fact I knew DH was the one for me when we played hangman and he used the word zephyr, which I didn't know so I couldn't win.

I'm a plethora user too.

Mine is more of a phrase that is used as an exclamation: "Christ on a pony". It is usually said following something not going right, kind of an "oh crap" replacement.

Same useage, but I say "Christ on a stick" However in recent years it's gotten to me that if overheard it could be really offensive.

My made up word is "confuddled" meaning confused. I went to say confused one day, and this came out of my mouth. I have no idea what communication was occuring between brain and mouth.

Prurient.

Also, I like to give the Lord a middle initial . . .usually H.

I love "snarky", too. It is a perfect word for me, being the mom of a 12 year old girl and having to spend a lot of time around her and her friends. Some 7th grade girls have snarky down to an art form!;)

I also adore the word "lovely". I don't know why, but I think it's such an elegant word, and love to use it for good things ("You look lovely!") and in sarcasm ("They painted their house neon pink? Lovely...).

Plethora

(and others not suitable for these boards)

ohhhh, I was reading this thread and couldn't think of a word and then I saw your word and I love that word!
I also like bibliophile. And privacy, but only the way the Brits pronounce it. Actually, I think a lot of words sound so much cooler when spoken with a british accent. I like how vacation is "going on holiday" or college is "going to university".
I'll have to keep thinking. Good thread OP!
OH, and a thick Canadian (not French-Canadian) accent.

I just thought of 2. Repartee and repertoire.

craptastic is my "word du jour"
now that I type it out I'm not sure the censor program will accept it...

Oh and count me another fan of "plethora" and lately ... "knucklehead"

karenos;)

Shrubbery
Wombat
Wonky
Fascinating (but must be said in a dry, non-expressive tone a la Mr. Spock)

kattywhompus!

It means the same as kitty-corner (another fun word!), but I like kattywhompus better. It means located diagonally across. Of course, to me it also means all messed up, say like you were looking for soemthing in a room and poulled all the stuff out all over the floors, etc - "this room is all kattywhompus!".

Oh, my mom uses that! I like it, too!

Oh that is wonderful! I will try to use it today!

I love fantabulous and spectacular! I also love marvellous, but only when said sarcastically and accompanied by eye rolling.

Yes--I love Wonky! Hilarious! And really any expressive word said by Mr. Spock...too fun!

I love "snarky", too. It is a perfect word for me, being the mom of a 12 year old girl and having to spend a lot of time around her and her friends. Some 7th grade girls have snarky down to an art form!;)

Snarky is perfect for 12 y.o. girls. I wonder what word would be best around 7 y.o. girls....there has to be a good one. Anyone??

OH, and a thick Canadian (not French-Canadian) accent.

I suppose most things said with an accent sound so much more interesting. I took DD out to dinner one night and the host was Irish. He asked DD's name...and after he said it out loud I informed her that she would most definitely be marrying someone Irish who could say her name like that every day....too bad there's not an emoticon for "swoon"...
