Do you have a Nickname?

I was named after my dad, Peter, my dad had no middle name and gave me one of Wayne which i always went by in school and to this day. For some unknown reason my parents gave me a nickname of Sam, i will never know why. My brother in law's given name is Ed, his nickname is Muggy, my sister in law's name was Evelyn, her nickname was Bumper (she used to run into things when she was little) the nicknames stuck.:rotfl2:

Everyone called me Micki until I got to high school and started using my first name, Michele. Many of my relatives and a couple of close friends still call me Micki.

Some of my children go by shortened versions of their names. I have Josh, Matt, Madi, and TJ. The other 2 kids use their full first names. No particular reason for shortened or non shortened names. They just ended up with what stuck.

My sister and her family call me Nene. It's been that way since I was about 10. At my old job once I got married everyone just called me by my last name. Now that I work for a different company, it's strange to hear my first name again. My husband is often called by our last name too. It must just be one of those names. My son has a different last name and I often call him a shortened version of it, "Chia" or bubby but most of the time he's just Liam.

I find nicknames funny especially those that have aren't just shortened versions of names and have been around for years. My husbands two best friends are Dude and Humpy. I didn't learn their real names until we had been dating a few years.

My sister has my kids call her Nene!

Everyone in our family has at least one nickname. Some of us have numerous. I have been Aunt Ditz, Da-Ja, ditters and jifners. Just to name a few, lol! They evolve after time.

I named my daughter Jordan so she wouldn't have a nickname. I loved the name and wanted her called that. When she was 10 I had my third child. By the time he was two, he had nicknamed her Jewy (not being able to pronounce it) and it stuck. She's 22 years old now and everybody calls her Jewy! Sometimes there's just no stopping it:)

Named my daughter Shannon so she would be called that. When she was about ten her new nephew couldn't say it so he called her Nunu. 19 yrs later she is still Nunu yo the family.

@Suzzane. I agree, I don't like Sue. Sounds too much like a boys name.

I have a hard time remembering people's names so as a general rule I give people nick names so I have a point of reference (Although I'm not as bad as Michael Scott). Most people return the favor however I've found they're unoriginal so I end up with the same 3 or 4 nick names no matter where I go.

My younger brother is named after my father Lonnie Dween xxxxx II.

Not wanting him to end up as Little Lonnie my Mom decided we'd call him L.D.

Worked great for a while. Even when he started school they agreed to call him L.D. but said he had to learn to write and spell Lonnie for his papers.

Had a little trouble when he entered Jr High with his transfer paperwork as they had two records for him.

Then we he transferred to a new school as a Junior in High School, he never bothered to correct the teachers when they called him Lonnie so his friends since them all know him as Lonnie.

Including his wife and sons. I visited once and called him L.D. and his 4yr old at the time asked who that was.

But he will always be L.D. to me. Lonnie is our father.

Michelle a.k.a Shelley

My name is Maureen some people call me Moe. When I was little I used to follow my dad around and his name was Morley (nickname was Moe) so people called Mini Moe.

My daughter is Elizabeth and her friends call her Liz. With my family she is either Queeno (that was. From my dad) or Bear.
