Do you have a "never again" list? Which restaurants are on it and why?

Personally, for me, Le Cellier.

It isn't worth the hassle OR the money. We had better steak at Hollywood Brown Derby. It wasn't BAD and our server was great, but I didn't get the hype. Way too much salt in their food as well. Ugh, yuck.

Hollywood and Vine... it's just a gross buffet.

Restaurants with three or more "never again" mentions through post #239 …

1. Hollywood & Vine (27 "never agains")
2. Whispering Canyon Cafe (23)
3t. Chef Mickey's & Sci-Fi Drive In (18)
4. Mama Melrose (16)
5t. Boma, Le Cellier & Restaurant Marrakech (13)
6. 'Ohana (12)
7. ABC Commissary (11)
8t. Askerhaus, Crystal Palace, Rose & Crown, Tony's Town Square (10)
9. San Angel Inn (9)
10. Biergarten (8)
11t. '50s Primetime Cafe & Cinderella's Royal Table (7)
12t. 1900 Park Fare, Boatwright's, Coral Reef, Electric Umbrella, Hoop de du Revue, Kona Cafe, Lotus Blossom, Nine Dragons, Toy Story Pizza Planet, Yak & Yeti (6)
13. Tusker House (5)
14t. Cap'n Jacks, Cape May, Garden Grill, Narcoose's, Rainforest Cafe, Tangerine Cafe, Teppan Edo, Wolfgang Pucks (4)
15t. Chefs de France, Kouzzina, Liberty Tree Tavern, Sunshine Seasons & Tutto Italia (3)

Here's my count...bearing in mind that if people were on the fence about a restaurant, I didn't include it. Also, I tried to separate breakfast from lunch/dinner if people specifically mentioned it (if they didn't, I assumed dinner).

These are the "winners" with 10+ mentions of "never again":

Whispering Canyon Cafe - 20
Hollywood & Vine (dinner) - 20
Sci-Fi - 15
Chef Mickey's (dinner) - 15
Le Cellier - 14
Mama Melrose - 13
Restaurant Marrakesh - 12
ABC Commissary - 12
Tony's - 11
'Ohana (dinner) - 11
Crystal Palace - 11 (with 1 vote for breakfast)

ETA - Added 1 vote to CP for the post below mine

Crystal Palace - We gave it THREE chances and all three times it was awful. Food was average and service was awful and twice the character interaction sucked. It is the ONE place I refuse to EVER visit again.

Just to answer the question of what restaurants haven't been mentioned...not many. Here's the rest of the list (less than 10 votes, in descending order):

Akershus (dinner) - 9
Rose & Crown - 9
Boma (dinner) - 9
Biergarten - 8
Cinderella's Royal Table - 7 (one vote for breakfast)
50s Primetime - 7
Electric Umbrella - 7
HDDR - 6
Lotus Blossom - 6
Nine Dragons - 6
Yak & Yeti - 6 (one person said it was CS...possibly different)
San Angel Inn - 6
Pizza Planet - 5
Narcoossee's - 5
Coral Reef - 5
Cap'n Jacks - 4
1900 PF - 4
Boatwright's - 4
Cape May Clambake - 4
Tangerine Cafe - 4
Planet Hollywood - 4
Rainforest Cafe - 4 (one person didn't specify location, 3 said AK)
Tusker House (breakfast) - 3
Hollywood & Vine (breakfast) - 3
Sunshine Seasons - 3
Le Chefs de France - 3
Tutto Italia - 3
Kouzzina - 3
Kona (breakfast) - 3
Teppan Edo - 3
Garden Grill - 3
Chef Mickey's (breakfast) - 3

Restaurants w/2 votes: Spirit of Aloha, The Wave, Flying Fish, Liberty Inn, Big River Grille, Boma (breakfast), Trail's End, Flametree BBQ, ESPN Zone/Club, Cantina San Angel, Wolfgang Puck Restaurant, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Liberty Tree Tavern, T-Rex

I feel sorry for me. DS is making me eat there! :crazy2:

For us it would be Ohana for dinner. We don't ;ike smoked food and the food we got was so dry.
Tusker house for dinner. There was so little food choices not like the other buffets.

Yeah, it's important to note that when I did I counted all "we wouldn't go back" answers. I tried to read everything but admit, in the interest of time, I skimmed. I also didn't define by meal or reason, as I tried to note.

I think our counts still turned out pretty close to each other. Obviously, not many ppl like WCC or Hollywood & Vine. Thank goodness I don't have ADRs for either.

I had already started counting when you posted your count, so I figured I might as well finish.

Well, for almost every restaurant that got votes against, there was at least 1 person who made a comment about how much they like it. I do remember quite a few people mentioning they like WCC (not so much with H&V), so try to stay positive.

I had already counted when I saw your post or I wouldn't have bothered. Thanks for doing it and sorry for asking and then just doing it myself without waiting. :) (Funny coincidence I also note we're crossing paths at Disney too ... We arrive on December 10, the day after you leave according to your sig.)

We were actually looking at Whispering Canyon due to its family friendly rep (and something I read on allears.net) but I've dropped that ADR for sure and also crossed Biergarten off (originally considered for entertainment value for little one).

I'm not a buffet person in general (I loathe them) but don't want to deprive my son of a character "experience."

To be honest, I'm kind of worried, in general, about dining at Disney. I'm a bit of a foodie and even with low expectations I'm afraid I'll be vastly disappointed.

The one and only time I have ever had food poisoning was during the night after we ate dinner at the restaurant at the German pavilion at Epcot. We laugh about it every time we walk past it, and my husband asks if I want to eat there again ;)

Teppan Edo :sad1:

We LOOOOVED it, but now we're vegetarians. They offer a veggie option, but it's all cooked together on the grill and the same utensils are used for the veggies and the meat.

So, who got no votes? (The dates are the dates the menus were most recently updated on allears.net. I copied Deb's list and removed anybody who appeared in the lists above of who got the most votes. This is what was left over. Lots of snacks and restaurants not on the DDP)

We've eaten there before and didn't love the food then, but DS LOVED the antics! So, back we go! He'd better be glad it's his birthday!!! :upsidedow

Actually, we're now trying to extend our stay until the 12th, so we probably will be crossing paths.

We are keeping our Biergarten ADR, despite the bad reviews. Same with Akershus and Boma. We're only on the regular DP, so we want to stick with 1-point restaurants...plus, we like different types of food. We're not really into servers who are putting on a show, like at WCC or '50s Primetime, so that's why we originally didn't get ADRs there. Now I'm kind of glad. I'm a little worried about Sci-Fi, but we'll see how it goes.

I'm a little worried about Sci-Fi, but we'll see how it goes.
Just stick with burgers and you'll be fine! :thumbsup2

We've only ventured away from burgers once... :crazy2:...not good. So - burgers are a "must do" and all other entrees are a "never again" for us. :upsidedow

always loved Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch, really not thrilled that they dropped that menu. Should just be open for dinner if that's the only menu that's going to be offered, the dinner food is just too heavy for lunch.

1. Ohanas
2. Tony's Town Square
3. Maya Grill @ CSR

Won't be hurrying back to Chef Mickeys or BOMA for dinner, but will try breakfast at both. :)

I completely agree about sticking with burgers at Sci Fi...this is what we do now, too. The kids love the atmosphere, but the food is generally not great. The burgers are decent enough.

Chef Mickeys breakfast advice...try to get one of the earliest seatings. I find people are slow to leave that character breakfast. I think it's because they do the music every so often, so people will often wait for them to play the music again before they leave. Every time I've eaten there after 8:00am, I have had to wait at least 25 minutes past the ADR time (even getting there 15 minutes early). We no longer do breakfast there for this reason.
