Do You Have A First Day Tradition ?

We arrive at the resort, unpack and walk around. DH and DsD need to go play in the arcade for a while :confused3 its not like we don't have those around here :rotfl2: . Dinner is always at Chef Mickeys :thumbsup2 and if we aren't too tired we will try to catch Spectro or Wishes at MK :cool1: .

We usually arrive at the Poly in the afternoon. I unpack and then DS and I head to the pool.
Later that evening we go for our traditional dinner at Chef Mickey's. What a great way to get into the Magic.:wizard:

We leave between 2 and 4 am to drive to WDW, so we can arrive about 8 or 9 am. If we can get into our room or campsite right away, we go to the room/tent and take a nap. If not, usually we hit MK right off. Depending on the time, you have to go to Casey's first, or, head straight to Adventure land and POTC or Jungle Cruise, shorter line first.

This last October I did something that I don't want to become a tradition. We were staying at OKW and after a day of MK and DTD, and after dinner at Olivia's, we went into the gift shop. After that I walked out of the front door and blew my knee out (tearing cartledge and needing surgery this January...all is MUCH better now). Rode around in an Electric cart the rest of the week. It was not fun.

This is mine..........

Fly in early enought o be ay Pop by 11 am...check in/unpack completely in the room (I like to move in). Then my friend ad I head to DTD for some light shopping and lunch at Puck's. Then its off to MK for the Evening EMH. Where we try and do POTC,SM,HM,TTA, COP and Buzz. Also try to catch Mickey somewhere.....

First full day is Breakfast at Animal Kingdom at Resturauntasoarous. Then Prime Evil Whirl, sometimes Dinosaur!...then its Pictures with Pooh and Friends at the Landing,Tough to be a bug...etc etc..

I do always sometime during the week have to have a Mickey ice cream bar at the MK, I also like to eat my Casey's hot dog while waiting for the parade.

1.) Check into resort

2.) Head over to Magic Kingdom

3.) Eat Lunch at Casey's Corner. A MUST! We have been doing it for many years. (I saw that this is also another Diser's tradition. What is it about Casey's?? :confused3  )

4.) Try to get onto some rides. We go in July, so it is usually VERY crowded.

5.) Head back to the resort for our first ADR of the vacation.

Usually we drive from Philly. We drive at night (leave around 8:00pm) adn get to WDW by about 1:00 - 2:00pm the next day. By that time we are too tired to do much so we sit by the pool and veg for the 1st day. After that we take ourselves wherever the moods strikes. It all depends on what kind of mood we are in. If it is a let's ride we hit MK, if we want a more laid back kind of day we hit EPCOT or MGM. AK is usually only a 1/2 day for us, so on the day we go to AK we go early in the AM and head back for a swim and then maybe hit Boardwalk or DTD.

my family arrives gets settled down then goes to mk and eats at liberty tree tavern.

To go DTD and eat lunch at RainForest Cafe. Then checkin to CSR and get ready for supper at Chef Mickey's.

If we arrive early in the day, we head right to MK. The first thing we do is shop for hats, because that's the first thing we did on our first trip. This year, (4 more days!!), it's going to bride/groom ears, because we're celebrating an anniversary (32 years, but I still feel like a bride - just not blushing anymore!). Then we must immediately head for POC.
If we arrive late, we head for the Beach Club Marketplace to do our "grocery" shopping - wine, Mickey's peanuts, Chip and Dale's cheese crackers, milk for coffee and more wine. Then in the morning, it's right to MK for hat shopping, POC and our vacation is underway.

hi
For us it's DTD and after dinner at OHANNA's the very first day.
Always Ohanna's we love it there and for us it is a great start :goodvibes

On our first day, we always go to Downtown Disney. Since we're usually still a little jet-lagged, it gets us into the Disney spirit, without us having to go into any of the parks.

Ive enjoyed reading them, thank you for sharing them. :goodvibes Danny

We always drive in to WDW and head straight back to Fort Wilderness Campground. We park and catch a bus to the back and eat at Trail's End Buffeteria. Then we take a boat to the MK and hop on a monorail for a couple of loops, and maybe a stop or two depending on the time we have. Once it was perfect timing, we were at the polynesian and watched the fireworks from the windows! It was a great welcome! Then we take a boat back to FWC and a bus back to the car and go to our room!

Anyone else would like to share, would love to hear them.:goodvibes Danny

Our tradition is dinner at Chef Mickey's our first night, it gets us in the Disney mood!!

Not that we have done this multiple times. We have done this once, but will make this a tradition for our trip in Dec '07 (no parks for us yet on 1st day):

1. Check-in and unpack
2. Go to Target on 192 (Most Southern Californians would call this a "Super" Target for the inclusion of the full supermarket inside, which we for the most part don't have.)
3. We arrive Saturday, so we attend mass at the Shrine to just thank God we are back at the World.
4. Go to Ohana's for dinner at around 8:30 and hopefully get a table close to the windows facing MK to see Wishes.

Our first day traditions usually start the night before.

The night before, we set all the bags right near the door. We drop our dogs off wheresoever they may be staying. On the way home, we grab dinner at McDonald's. When we get home, we eat (obviously! :) ) and then we go through our packing lists again just to make sure we've got everything packed. We get into bed, turn on Peter Pan - and fall asleep usually before the Darling kids make it to Neverland. ;)

The next morning, I'm usually up at about 4ish. I go BACK to McDonald's for breakfast. (I do enjoy fast food - but I don't eat it ALL year, so I enjoy it as part of my Disney trips) My wife usually gets ready while I'm off getting the food. I get back, we eat, and then load up the car with the bags. We then head over to wherever we'll be leaving our car (my parent's house or my in-laws house) and they take us to the airport.

Once we get there, we check in, get lunch at McDonald's (I KNOW ALREADY! See what I said about this last time! ;) ) and head to a park. Usually we start with Universal - but there is no definite as to which park we visit. We stay for about 3 or so hours. We come back to the room and rest. We take a nap, take a shower, and get dressed. We then ALWAYS head over to Epcot for dinner at Marrakesh, a stroll around the World Showcase Lagoon and stake out an Illuminations spot. We watch Illuminations, and head back to the resort for bed.

That's the way it's been for every trip for the past 5 years! :) It'll be interesting to see how the routine switches up for our next trip.

A.) We have a kid now! :)

B.) EVERYONE is coming, so we have no place to leave the dogs, and our transportation to the airport is now coming WITH US!

C.) It's a Grand Gathering. 8 adults, 3 kids - two of which will be JUST entering the toddler phase.

Send me some pixie dust! LOL! :scared: :wizard:

You will start some new and great traditions this year and sounds like a special magical trip.:goodvibes Danny
