Do you hate your birthday? UPDATE

I don't hate it, I just don't particularly like any fuss. I don't mind close family celebrations, but really don't want everyone and their brother telling me happy birthday. Age isn't a big deal to me, I've never worried about that part of it.

I don't care. It's just another day. Everyone else her gets pretty spoiled but something else is always going on when mine pops up. It is what it is. I usually get a card and then it's the next day.

Nothing to dread or worry about. Like pp said much better to be counting up than to stop counting.

I don't like the date, December 29th....I feel bad that my hubby has to buy me a Christmas and birthday gift so I dont ask for expensive things. I would like to celebrate a half year birthday in June but my family won't let me.

I have no problem with my birthday. The way I figure it, I get older every day so no reason to to pick that reason to hate my birthday anymore than the day before or the day after.

I love my birthday. I'm here at WDW right now about to celebrate my 40th. I'm being spoiled like crazy and having a blast.

Two thoughts

First, growing up, we used to get out of school every year on my best friend's June birthday, and go back to school on my September birthday. While I liked the time of year, I hated the frame of mind that we were re-starting school rather than ending the year, like with my friend's; she always had a great pool party! (I'm sure it could've been worse, though, like in the dead of winter, or on a holiday, etc.)

Secondly, I didn't enjoy getting older - until I was diagnosed with cancer. All of a sudden I realized that subsequent birthdays were not a given. (And a lot of other things, too.) So now I appreciate each one, and age really doesn't matter. :)

I don't hate it, but it has become just another day. I miss being younger and getting to make a fuss out of the day. Now that I am in my 30s, people look at you like you are immature if you want to make a big fuss.

Do it anyway if that's what makes you happy!!

I don't hate my birthday. I forget my age most of the time. I just realized that the last few times someone asked me how old I am that I told them a year older than I actually am. I think I don't really care about my age that much. When it's my birthday I pick what I want to do or what I want to eat and I get a present which I get to pick too. And if anyone is mean to I can say it's my birthday. Or if I want my way for something I say it's my birthday. I usually try to get my way the whole birthday month but it doesn't always work.

I do now. 2 years ago on my birthday, my cousin died. Last year the church that housed the preschool that I teach in was struck by lightning and burned. I'm afraid to have another one. I used to like my birthday even though we didn't really do much to celebrate.

My one grandmother's birthday was December 29th. My other grandmother's birthday was December 25th. My grandmother whose birthday was on Christmas grew up very poor and received only a Christmas gift. Her siblings received a gift for Christmas and another on their birthdays. It always made her a little sad that she didn't get a special day.

I don't mind my birthday. I have no problem being 53.

My MIL's birthday is Dec 25, and she always insisted we have her birthday dinner on Christmas when she was with us, rather than considering it Christmas dinner. Always bugged me. She's in assisted living now, a 3 hour drive away, and we will go have dinner with her there this year. My mom's birthday is Dec 28 so we usually celebrate it with whatever family is around. She'll be 95 this year, and lives 2 hours the other direction from MIL. Lots of driving over the holidays, dragging my 2 adult children who will be home along.

I don't hate my birthday but that's definitely the reason I am very cautious in wishing anyone a happy birthday. You don't know if you're going to get kissed or kicked. People hate getting older but God forbid you don't buy them a card or wish them a happy birthday!

I know many people who stopped having birthdays, sucks to be them.
