Do you find this offensive....

That is funny Leigh

it KILLS me when people make common assumptions
SO does this mean that
all Chess players have a HIGH IQ?
All Hockey Players are missing teeth?
All Football players are dumber than a stump?
All Dr's have common sense?
should I go on?

I can not JUSTIFY THAT to what the op of the comment that angered me said...

"Oh the irony. How many of you saying "no Hooters shirt" are cheer moms? I have seen these routines, and the girls of all ages are wearing skimpy skirts, make-up that would make a stripper blush, and suggestive dancing/movements. Justify that. "

And after 6 pages it has not been proven that my statement is incorrect or offensive ina ny way. Would you conceed that Patty? Or is everyone else wrong?

WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING
implying that all cheerleaders:
"I have seen these routines, and the girls of all ages are wearing skimpy skirts, make-up that would make a stripper blush, and suggestive dancing/movements. "

THAT IS EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE!

so how do you feel about the dance moves that most of us were referring to, not skirt length?

well, the owner of the team would NOT at anytime ever allow us to do any of that. She was at every practice to make sure there was no suggestive music or movement. One girl tried to sneak in a mildly suggestive movement and was cut from the team. They kicked off a coach for switching music to a song that had more meaning to it....so my team was strict. But there were other teams who it looked like they were ummm doing it with the mats and each other. Most competions you lose points for that so we won for being the wholsome team! :cheer2:

but earlier people were talking about skirt length...thats why i said that

hey patty ~
was the picture you posted from the Reggie Lewis arena last Saturday? My DD's dance team competed there in the morning and it looks familiar to me. How did your DD do?

BTW ~ nothing offensive about that at all, IMHO :)

I don't find the op's pic offensive. I don't find the hooters shirt offensive. I don't get this whole thing. If you don't like cheerleaders, don't watch football. If you don't like tight shirts and short shorts, don't go to hooters. :confused3

PattyT...your gym is hosting a competition on Dec 3...right? We'll be there!!!

Melissa :cheer2:

My DD may be going to a cheer comp in MA on Dec. 3!! Is it MAS challenge??What team does your child cheer for??

THAT IS US - MAS!
Your comin to my town ;)
we NEED to make a DIS meet - although I will be working that day - there! ;)

My 2 DD's cheer for East Elite (JP Novice, and SM Coed Advanced). My oldest may be going to that comp in preparation for the comp in NJ (not Atlantic City this year). Not sure yet though.

As far as cheering........................it is AWESOME. The talent that these girls/gus display along with the athleticism is truly amazing. Maybe some routines are suggestive but that just happens to be the 'craze' at the moment. Crazes come and go. My DD's routine last year had some suggestive moves but not this years. Show pure skill!!!!!

DD is on her high school dance team...no cheerleading.
They placed 5th...not very happy about that, but I'm her Mom, so of course I think they should have placed 1st.

That is the only competition that her HS team goes to. She is on another competitive dance team at her dance studio, so she will have several competitions coming in the spring ~ ADA, Showstoppers, etc.

Congrats to you dd's 1st place!! :cheer2:

I am not trying to be sarcastic, or to offend you - just trying to understand. What was your reaction to your DD doing a routine that had some suggestive moves? Was that OK with you? May I ask how old she is?

Both my husband and I though it was not OK for his daughter. Unfortunately, we were over-ruled by her mother and the nuns at the Catholic school she attended. :earseek: Yes, their team always won. But I really have a hard time understanding.

For the record, she eventually grew into a rather responsible young woman - I even personally co-signed a loan for her. HOWEVER, we later found out that at 14 she was sexually active with a 20yr old who her mother thought was 18 - guess she was well versed in what those moves meant.

Before I get flamed, I'm not accusing anyone's cheerleading daughters of ANYTHING. I just try and understand why this suggestive stuff is OK with so many folks. I'm happy to hear that some places are reacting negatively to it.

The personal attacks, insults, and posts we've had to delete due to profanity are out of hand here.
