Dh and I were talking tonight about trying to take a trip to the world in Nov. My question is....with everything going on in the world how safe do you feel visiting the disney world?Dh is adamit that if there is a war, he doesn't want to go.I admit it scares me some also.I really don't know what to think. We've only been once and would like to go back again. Thanks for your input.April

Go April. I went 9 days after 9/11 and am going in 2 weeks. Don't live your life fearing what might or could happen. You can slip in your kitchen and suffer the consequences, but you do not fear it. Go, enjoy.

At this point in time, yes, I would feel safe going to Disney. Of course, depending on what hapens in the next few months, I might change my mind. My trip is planned for December, so there's no telling what will take place between now and then. I'm just going to take it one day at a time and see what happens. At least the airlines have made announcements that if we do go to war, or code red, they will not charge a penalty to change reservations or to reschedule.

I guess I look at it this way....

When my time is up....my time is up!

And I travel very frequently, with a business and ill relatives!

In the meantime, I try to enjoy every DAY that the good Lord gives me!:D

GO and ENJOY LIFE!!!!!:bounce:

Please stay home. That means shorter lines and more cheap on-property hotel rooms for me. ;)

Dan is right - the probability that you will die in your car within a mile of your house is just as significant as danger you face when traveling domestically.

Yup I feel safe enough to go. Of course my DH works in NYC so WDW seems safe to me. I can't live my life if fear, as BambiTamby said "when my time is up...my time is up" it's not going to matter where I am.

I'm planning 2 day trips with my bf for this summer so I'm going(ok,it's not WDW but to Six Flags:) )

You'll be as safe here as anywhere else. Come on down and enjoy yourselves. Give in to your fears and the enemy has won!

Have a great trip. We'll be looking forward to your visit.

Not going this year. One minute I am going, the next minute I am not going, ARGH. It is so true, when your time is up it is up but what scares me what if the person behined me on the plane is having his time up or the person in the next room at Disney or in the line ona ride, ARGH, Calgone take me away. :D

And I feel that is there is a war - it will be over before then. We're traveling in 13 days to the Dominican Republic, not nervous at all. We're also going to WDW in October.

I'll be going May 9th and am in the process of planning another trip after that at some point.

GO! We are taking an August trip. The last thing I would do is put my family in harms way. I have no fear in taking this trip as planed.

We are going in Oct regardless of the war situation. And although Disney is considered a possible target, so are sporting events, concerts, malls, historical sites, power plants, trains, planes, etc. The list goes on and on - I can't be a prisoner in my own home just because something could possibly happen.

My boys have Spring Break in about a week. I would love to take them to WDW, but I'm not. I keep fighting with my urge to go. It always boils down to the same thing, though. My children trust me completely to make choices that will keep them safe. DH and I both really feel that WDW will be a much bigger target, if war should break out.
I don't consider it hiding or letting fear rule me. I think I am using common sense to avoid a potentially dangerous situation.

We are going in May and I can't wait. I did think twice about it and that makes me mad. America is about the freedom to move from place to place without fear. I won't let the terrorists hold me back. However, I'm dying for my sister, BIL, and niece to go at the same time we are and my BIL won't go b/c of fear of the war, terrorism, etc.
<<shrugging my shoulders>> Now I've got some killer flu to worry about too. What's a Mom to do?

Maybe it will all be over by May! We can hope so, anyway. :)

go! :)

we can't afford wdw this year, but i am going to williamsburg with my parents and dh and going to visit my grandmother who is sick in april. we have a family wedding to go to in san francisco in june, and then a family reunion in seattle and another san francisco family wedding in august. and then of course, we're also planning on traveling for thanksgiving and christmas.

i'm not planning on cancelling any of these unless i physically am unable to get there.

We're going in early June. This is the first time my DS's and I have flown since 9/11 (DH has taken a couple of business trips). Both DS's (they're 11 and 13) have said that they're afraid to fly. I'm a little nervous myself, but I refuse to let it stop me. We couldn't go on vacation last summer because I was receiving daily radiation treatments for breast cancer, so this trip is very much needed.

That said, by June we should know what direction the war is taking. If there is "action" on American soil, we may change our plans. Right now, we're going.

I would go in a heartbeat - no question about it. I wouldn't even think twice! The only problem is that we've already been one this year, and we are expecting a baby in July - so we can't really afford another trip right now. :( Otherwise, I would definately be heading down in early May for the Flower and Garden Festival. As it is, we are planning on heading back in October for the Food and Wine Festival and the Halloween Party, with our four month old baby!

We are going in May and we can't wait! We don't have any second thoughts at all. Like others have said, what's going to happen will happen and I don't feel as though chances of something bad happening are worse on vacation than they are at home. :D
