Do you ever wear a poncho on the water rides?!

Okay, we do tend to visit WDW in winter when it's not nearly as pleasant to get all wet. But I just CANNOT bring myself to put on a poncho.

People look so funny all huddled up in them and make the whole idea of the ride rather pointless.

Is this just me? Not that I would be surprised.....

We've never worn a poncho on a wet ride, and thankfully we've only used them once in 6 visits during a downpour. What I would probably do is get soaked on a ride and perhaps take some spare clothes to change into if it wasn't warm enough to dry off. I think it can look a bit lame wearing a poncho when the idea of a wet ride is to - get wet.

We wore them once on Dudley Do-Rights and ended up wetter than we would have without them. What we do now is to take a change of clothes and pop them into a locker. That way once we have done say Splash Mountain, we hop onto the Railroad and that takes us to the entrance to the MK. Get changed and then we are ready to continue....all nice and dry.

I usually try to get all the wet rides out of the way in the morning and then you have time to dry out, otherwise take a change of clothes and leave them at the guest services lockers,

The only time I have worn a poncho was when we went in January and we had frost!!

LOL well I hadn't until just recently on my last trip some of my family didn't want to get wet so we all put on our ponchos so no-one felt left out. I have to say it was a refreshing change to come off Kali River Rapids dry as a bone and of course laugh at other people's drenched expense - oh yeah I know, I'm going to hell

I must admit I think the wearing of ponchos on water rides is cheating somewhat - however I have only been to WDW in August when getting wet is a bit of a welcome relief!

I did change my opinion somewhat when I went on Pirates of the Caribbean at DLP, and when I sat down on the seat didn't notice a big pool of water. Let me tell you, Paris in February is not a great place to have a wet bum all day I think icicles began to develop at one point!

No we have never worn ponchos - surely one of the reasons for doing the water rides is the anticipation of getting wet. We always say that the people wearing ponchos are wimps! We rode KRR and got absolutley drenched - a party of 9 and we were hust laughing hysterically at the end, so much so that we went right back on and did it again!! We dripped for hours!

Yes, but I hate that - I'm such a wuss! And then the chafing when you walk round...ooch! But still I can't put on that poncho.

Oh I <i>hate</i> getting wet unless it's sizzling hot! In that case I just don't go on the ride at all....which means of course I have to go back on another trip

Ponchos on rides????? What is the point?
Understandable when walking around, but as others have said in July / August a welcome relief.

It all depends on the time of year - i.e. In August it's a great relief to cool down but early April - Brrrr - Time to pull on the "Beanoland" blue poncho's!

I was never a poncho wearer either, also thinking 'what's the point' until ....

I went on Journey to Altantis last September with my DS, we got absolutely soaked, it felt as if someone has chucked a baby bath full of water over us (especially me) I could not dry off, my shorts were demin and my trainers were canvas (big mistake) and I don't really have the figure for a wet shirt We didn't stay as long at the park because I felt so miserable. If I sat down I left the imprint of my rather amble bottom and it was still squeltching after an hour and a half. So when I went on Splash Mountain I was so terrified of getting as wet agin that me and my Pal Mickey hid under a poncho, although I think it must have been a freak wave at Journey to Atlantis.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I should have taken a change of clothes, but I think that always have to learn form my mistakes.

I have not worn a poncho on any water rides either.
If its cold weather then I dont ride. Nothing worse than being wet and cold
