that you've never stayed at to see if you'd be interested in staying there on a future trip?

Depends, we check out the places if we are eating there, typically we end up touring a deluxe resort but my pocketbook always says no when it comes to reservation making. Being that we had such a terrible experience at All Star Sports our first time and got sent to CBR we do not visit the value resorts.

We have visited/stayed at all the value resorts now.

Next year I'm staying at Riverside, but hoping to visit CBR. I know it's a really big resort, and that has kept me from booking it. But I feel I need to see for myself.

Maybe I'll get a great vibe and want to give it a try.

My partner and I love CBR (granted he wants to do the Contemporary) but never again will we do a Value. Yeah it is spread out, but that doesn't bother us. One we either get lucky and get rooms close to the main hall (Old Port Royale), or two I won't go to Disney without a car anymore, I always seemed to walk up to the bus stops just as my bus was pulling away, so we just drive to Old Port Royale.

Every time we visit, once we are settled in, I figure out the buildings and how not to get lost (been known to make 4 rights before I make the left) Sometimes cutting through the parking lots is faster then the sidewalks to Old Port Royale, especially in Trinidad.

Yes. We looked at POR and thought it was lovely. I just can't sell DH on the outdoor corridor.

I gave kind of a flip answer, but we really don't make a point of scoping out the other resorts in person, unless we're dining there. We've stayed at all of the mods multiple times, and I don't think you can get a real feel for a place until you've been in your room, tried out the pool, trekked back and forth from the main buildings with your refillable mug, or endured the morning crush in the food courts. So for me, just checking out the resorts online is usually sufficient.

We only stayed at a value once. That was enough and won't happen again

I love the outdoor corridors. I actually missed them when I stayed at the Beach Club a few weeks back. Which is weird, I know.

I do it every trip, I usually stay in deluxes and have either stayed in or visited all of them. I like to check out the mods and values in case I want to do a split stay and stay at one for just a night. Also, I just like having a half day now and again to not go to the parks so I hop on the first mod/value resort bus to come and eat there and check it out.

Great idea! :thumbsup2

Last trip was my first onsite stay. We stayed at POP but toured around AoA. We visited the monorail resorts just to get a taste of the good life. lol This trip we are staying at All Star Sports and we are planning on seeing the other two All Stars. I think touring resorts gives you a better perspective on if a resort is worth the upgrade or not worth the savings. I know it isn't a moderate/value but my visit to CR left me feeling unimpressed and from first glance it was the first on my monorail deluxe wishlist. Internet pictures and reviews don't accurately convey the feeling of being at a particular resort. I say visit if you can and taking a rest day to see resorts is a nice way to vacation from your vacation.

Yes. I had to go on a business trip to the Dolphin a few years ago and flew in couple days early. I stayed, solo, at POFQ, walked over to POR, drove over to Olivias for lunch and looked around OKW, then drove to Coronado and checked out that resort. I am going to check out OKW some more, online (pricing) for a future trip w/ 6 of us. My next trip, in 6 days, there will only be 3 of us, so we dont need that kind of space. I would stay at POFQ again, or try POR. I wasnt crazy about Coronado.

When we started staying onsite we always stayed moderate and have stayed at all of them eventually, but only after visiting them from our resort stay at the time - love them all with the exception of CSR. Our last few trips we've stayed deluxe thanks to some very magical deals ;) We've visited both Pop & AoA from those resorts while planning short pre Christmas trips and have stayed at Pop twice from those little "recon" visits!

We did when we went on a Christmas trip so, we could see the Christmas decorations. We also made reservations for. A TS restaurant when doing this as well.

Our first on-site stay was at All Star Sports (and we visited the other AS resorts, just to see the giant icons). POP is our favourite value resort and when we were there we visited AoA a few times (toured around, ate at AoA food court, visited their store).
Our usual trips are at POFQ and we always take several morning strolls with our coffee to PORS - it's a nice 10 minute walk. We fill up our coffee mugs and tour the store there. Usually we have a lunch or two there as well. DD's will sometimes swim at PORS when we are at POFQ, just for a change of scenery.
We like checking out other resorts, just to get a feel for them, in case we ever end up there.

We will be doing that again this trip. Last time we walked around POR. We are staying CBR (bc and gf didn't have free dining for our dates so we are trying something totally new). CSR was our first mod choice, but it wasn't available either lol. So we will be touring it in November to scope out for future trips.

We don't go out of our way to scope out a Value or a Moderate, but if we are interested we may have lunch there and then walk around. During our January trip we wanted to check out AoA, before we walked over there we had lunch at Pop Century because that was another resort that we wanted to check out too. Also, during that same trip, DH decided to go have lunch at CSR while the girls and I were off having tea at the GF and after his lunch there he decided to check out the resort. He told us all about it and said that for our next trip he would like to stay there. After looking into it myself....guess where we will be staying at next month :goodvibes.

We always stay DVC or deluxe but we enjoy the "bus lottery game." We got into it after a TiW event at Golden Oaks - we were table mates with a couple who set a goal to eat something from every restaurant at WDW and they accomplished most of it by playing "bus lottery." If we are bored with the parks and want to eat, we'll just hop the first bus we see. Super fun and have had nice surprises in terms of finding a fun bar or a fun snack!

Many, many times we have spent time visiting resorts. It's a great way to see more of what WDW has to offer and it's great down time. Sometimes we have toured around before or after an ADR. We have also made it our activity for the afternoon of a sleep in day.....throw in a cocktail and it's a great day.
