Do you ever visit moderates or values

Not since the birth of the internet.

The only place we checked out without having stayed there is Wilderness Campground. Just having a hard time convincing my wife it is a good idea to drive from Minnesota down to Florida, in the winter, pulling a trailer, in the winter to stay at a campsite. What's up with that?
As minnie mum said; with the internet, and I purchase the official book of WDW, and the DIS board, we decide which resort to stay at.

Always! On this trip (stayed two weeks at POR) we visited and ate/shopped at AoA, POFQ, Beach Club, Poly, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness. But on previous trips we've popped in to everywhere except Shades of Green I think.

Do your visits ever make you want to stay somewhere else, rather then POR?

Not really. We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club, and while I love the location and pool at the latter, POR just feels like our Disney home and we all miss it when we're away. Doesn't stop us going visiting other places though.

Many, many times we have spent time visiting resorts. It's a great way to see more of what WDW has to offer and it's great down time. Sometimes we have toured around before or after an ADR. We have also made it our activity for the afternoon of a sleep in day.....throw in a cocktail and it's a great day.

@dancin Disney style , do you typically have a vehicle for this? We're staying at Pop this Thanksgiving-early Dec, with 5 kids--and no vehicle this time around. We've in the past always stayed at SOG, and I guess we walked to the Poly a lot but never really visited too many resorts. I am realizing I have NO IDEA how we're going to hop around and see all the resort decorations (which we have a whole day set aside for), much less get to our Boma breakfast the first full day! Any tips at all? Thank you :)

Never. We've only ever stayed at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Wilderness Lodge. It would be hard to stay in anything but a deluxe resort.

Years ago we used to check out various resorts for the gift shop (We love looking at Disney stuff.) The merchandise became homogenized, and we became DVC members, so we've laid off seeing resorts unless we're eating at them. We used to enjoy CSR a lot, the only value we ever stayed at was AS Sports, we didn't like it. :earsboy:

Next year I am determined to visit AoA to take pictures and walk over to POP to scope out the place for a possible future stay if I ever decide I need to save some $$.

I went to POR from POFQ for dinner last year, but I really ought to explore some more over there someday.

Yes!

A few years ago we took the boat from DTD to POFQ and POR. We had stayed at FQ about 20 years ago, but had never seen POR... we were so impressed by our short visit to POR that we have stayed there 5 times since!

Earlier this year we visited AoA, which was okay but not worth paying the premium for.

We have visited all the Deluxes, but don't stay at them due to high prices.

Stayed at a moderate once for a quick weekend. Never ever ever again. I can't even fathom visiting let alone staying at a Value.

Different strokes...

No! We tend to stay at moderates or OKW (UK deal - I tend to group with moderates because of size, outdoor access, dining options) when there we visit deluxe for dining and to look at the resorts. We don't hire a car so it's not easy to visit other resorts. I like it that when we stay at a new resort it's somewhere we haven't visited before - more of a surprise!!

We know the kind of quality all Disney resorts offer, so we're never concerned if we go out on a limb and book a resort we've never been to or seen in person. We know it's not the Bates Motel. At the very least, it ends up not being our speed and we'll know for the next time. Because of this mentality, we don't go out of our way to scope out potential resorts while we're there. It also adds an element of excitement if we don't really know what to expect, aside from pics on the internet.

I'm tempted to scope out some of the moderates in person, just to get a feel for if the extra money would seem worth it. I don't think there's too much point in checking out the all stars and pop. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. The decor is different, but the layouts are very similar. I hate sports in general, so, I would be annoyed to stay at the All Star Sports, but, if it was the only thing available I would still take it over staying off property. I prefer POP to any of the all stars for the bus situation. Though, we only got stuck in the multistop situation a couple times for the last 3 night stay we were at ASMovies. I don't mind the values, but, we're exploring the notion of a moderate next.

We saved for three years for our first visit. Having 5 in our family limited us back then. Lucky I had a cousin who had DVC points in the family and told me about renting points,
Three nights at Poly and 5 at BWV. BWV will always be our home away from home. We do stay at other resorts but are still limited because of 5. We were at POR and thought is was
nice. I think if we weren't put at the very back on the second floor when we requested front ground floor I would of liked it more.

Nope, 54 trips to WDW, we've eliminated resorts to stay at and others never to return to....visiting other resorts seems like a big waste of vacation and park time....a resort room is just that...a room with beds, no interest in decor....best pools are by far at the deluxe resorts....absolutely no interest in the values and only mod we'd consider is POFQ....so visiting resorts is not something we do....

Yes, every trip, a girl has to dream a little. lol One day I will stay at Poly. Well I did in 1974 but I was just 4. I love visiting other resorts and checking out the food and grounds. But we always seem to gravitate and do the same restuarants and resorts.

Yes. We looked at POR and thought it was lovely. I just can't sell DH on the outdoor corridor.

I love the outdoor corridors. (only at disney) I love just walking out the door.
