Do you ever give out anything other than candy to trick-or-treaters?

We give out full sized chocolate bars, pop or chips (1 per kid) and then to the neighbor kids that we are friends with and friends kids we give them candy apples and popcorn balls as well............

I gave away chips last year. This year it will be chips and water guns. I only get about 3 or 4 kids anyways.

What a great idea - water guns! I think I should give them out filled with water.

I also like the glow sticks/bracelets idea too. :thumbsup2

Like another poster, I get out the day after Halloween & pick up pencils & other small treats for the next years Halloween. I normally pick up a bag of Pixie Stix too because they're cheap (120 for about $2) and toss in whatever I grab at that moment. We do Trunk or Treat as well & the kids come fast & furious.

I hope we have some costumed kids running through our neighborhood. I will be leaving out bags of chips while we are out. Some glow bracelets would be cool too.

Ours is actually a little bit Disney inspired. We were at Fantasmic a few months before Halloween and saw all the LED Merchandise they were selling. We thought it would be great to give them away for Trick or Treat. Came home, did some internet searches and found that in bulk we could get LED necklaces for about a buck a piece. A little pricey, but we didn't get that many trick-or-treaters so we went for it.

It has now been several years and we have a reputation. Last year we gave out 350 - and right now I have 500 sitting in my living room for this year. We live at a point where two subdivisions come together - and everyone heads here (our neighbors have told us that as our T-or-T volume has increased, so has theirs so they have to buy a ton more candy).

We do trick-or-treat after dark on Halloween -so the parents love it. Come to our house first, get the necklace and then have the kids wear it all night. We have kids who show up wearing their collection of LED necklaces that they have gotten over the years.

We also over-decorate for Halloween so we are referred to as the Halloween house by all the kids in the neighborhood.

When I was a kid, I always liked it when we got little trinket things like stickers and spider rings instead of just more candy.

Last year I found some bags of individually wrapped glow in the dark Halloween Silly Bandz, so we gave those away along with the candy. We don't get many trick or treaters anymore so I have some packs left over...debating on whether or not I should hand them out again this year. Do kids still like Silly Bandz?

We never run out of candy (always full size candy bars), except for one year and we ended up handing out $1 dollar bills. It was near the end of the night, so I don't think we gave more than $15 in cash total, but the kids loved it!

I won't be doing it this year...Ive cut back actually :(

but I have always gone to a local magic shop and purchased a small horde of small fun items...like those metal puzzlers, card tricks and other fun things , in addition to small stuff at the party store and let the kids pick one out of a big witches cauldren along with their candy bag...the SMILES were so great...kids love those prizes (and I only did that for the older kids not the tots)
this year, its a pkg costco or Bjs snack packs (the ones with chips or pretzels)

For a couple of years I gave out mini packs of microwave popcorn with an individual package of hot chocolate mix. Last year it was packaged rice crispy treats and candy.

I hate Halloween.

I alternate between rocks and religious pamphlets and toothbrushes.

We decided this year to give out cans of beer, packs of cigarettes and apples with razor blades in them!! :cool2:

I love this! Sounds like a fun neighborhood!

I can't speak for all kids, but I can tell you that my four year old grandson would love to get glow in the dark Silly Bandz! I bet a lot of kids would like them!

Lots of really good treat ideas on this thread!

Free Frosty coupons from Wendy's. One year i gave sip packs and/or water to the kids and either a beer or soda to the parents. HUGE HIT!

I also remember getting full size candy bars. When we lived in town, we did the full size candy bars for a few years, now we are out in the county, there's no trick or treating, as there are no sidewalks and no streetlights. I miss seeing all the kids in their costumes!

We give out the full sized candy bars- its just easier for me to give one of those than giving 3 or more of the little bars per kid- I just can't see giving one of those small candy bars per kid- just feels to cheap for me so we just give the one big bar. One year I gave pretzels and chips and I know the kids didn't see to happy about the non-candy treats so I won't be doing that again! I know my daughter and her friends always hated when people gave them those little cans of play-doh so we don't ever do those.

Living in a townhome development, we get carloads of kids who (I'm sure) don't live here! You see the cars at the end of the court. Anyway, we just give out candy. This year, who knows what Halloween will be like:confused3 (thanks, Sandy!).

We give out bags of chips. I like it because I'm not eating it.
