Do you enjoy going to the grocery store?

I enjoy grocery shopping. I meal plan and then arrange my list by where the items are in the grocery store. My store has many different options for things which keeps things interesting.

I enjoy going to the store for the most part. I like to go early in the AM before the store gets really crowded or it gets hot outside...wearing a mask in 95 degree heat is not fun.

I don’t mind going to Safeway for a few things. I use the self-checkout and get out quickly. I can’t justify buying everything at Safeway when Walmart has the same stuff for much less. I really hate going there. It’s crowded, the aisles are frequently blocked with carts of stock that need to be put away and the checkout lines are long and painfully slow.

We started using Walmart’s curbside pickup option during the quarantine and haven’t gone back to in-person shopping. I love being able to order everything from my
couch. We just drive up and someone puts it in the car. It takes 20 minutes to pick up groceries instead of over an hour of frustration and misery!

It depends. I like exploring produce. I hate people and I hate that grocery stores make their aisles harder to navigate using displays.

When I was working, the grocery store was an extra job or task to get through.

Now that I'm retired, it's much better. I don't enjoy someone else choosing my food. We've had many deliveries. Something is always missing or substituted.

Since I can go early or when it's not busy, it's much better and more enjoyable.

Like some others I enjoy shopping at new to me stores in locations I may visit, farmer's markets and even roadside stands.

I do about once a month to see what's new or to get new ideas. In between, I love grocery pick up, especially busy weeks.

I like to visit grocery stores when on vacation to see products in stores we don't have. We never had time to visit Aldi when we were in Orlando this summer, and I wanted to. But we did go to Publix to stock our condo.

I have a thing for flavored teas and absolutely love to bring home souvenirs of flavored teas from different grocery stores.

I don't like grocery shopping. Not really sure why, as I do like to shop and do like to cook. Maybe it's just that extra step in food prep is too much. Shop, cook, serve, clean up. The shop part just irritates me. Wish it didn't.

I love doing the grocery shopping. In fact, I love it so much my family teases me all the time about it. I love making a neat list and color coding different things with highlighter pens- green for produce, pink for meats. They think I'm nuts, but the meat and produce is at the beginning of the store, and I color code these items so I don't have to backtrack because I forgot something-it's highlighted.

This is genius! Why didn't I think of this? I like to separate my list into 3 categories (first produce, then dry goods, then meat, dairy, frozen and bakery) categories for the same reason, but invariably something gets put in the wrong section as my list gets added to. This way I could be random and then organize right before going to the store. This could be really handy especially on big shopping trips like before holidays or company meals.

This came up in another thread and I thought it might be fun to discuss.

I actually enjoy going to the grocery store if it's not too crowded. (I do not like shopping the week before Thanksgiving, etc.!) While I do get tired of the regular shopping, it's more about forcing myself to do some planning, actually go, and the unpacking and putting away that I tire of. I enjoy the walking up and down the aisles looking for things part.

We actually like it when we have to get groceries of any kind on a vacation because we enjoy seeing what is different. Especially if we go to a foreign country, we HAVE to check out a grocery store. Since we live in suburbia, I also find big city and/or small town grocery stores interesting.

How about you?

If I have the time to wander, yes. I like to find new things to try.

I hate carrying the groceries in, because 2nd floor, and stairs are hard for me. Don't mind putting them away, except when I'm hot and tired from carrying them in.

Funny I ran into a friend yesterday while out walkng and she complained on how she had to go grocery shopping that day and she would rather clean her house 3x over than go grocery shopping.. I was like serioulsly?!
I actually enjoy grocery shopping if I make it a weekly event and give myself time. Running into the store to grab a thing or two is for me not grocery shopping. What annoys me though is putting the stuff away when I get home, as we lack cabinet space and its a struggle to get everything put away.

and yes! Like OP, I always make a point to hit foreign grocery stores. I usually buy tons of stuff I dont need too.

I'm limited on cupboard space, so I put one of these and one of these where the kitchen table could go (I also have a chest freezer there...and a table too!). Jars (like sauces, ketchup, syrup, etc) go in fabric bins on the white shelf; boxes go on there too, without the bins (except for big boxes, like cereal; cereal goes up on the fridge. Cans are by the stove in a cupboard. My spices are either on the spice shelf on the counter; in the cupboard by the stove (the bags of spices are in a wire basket up there), or my misc drawer by the spice shelf.

I used to but not so much any more. I spend too much time thinking "they want how much for this?" and "why are they out of this item?" Maybe when things get back to normal, I will enjoy it again.

Like @ronandannette mentioned above, I used to go with my dad, so I have fond memories associated with grocery shopping.

I think that, plus shopping at less busy times, makes me enjoy it - but only at stores I'm familiar with. When I go anywhere else, I inevitably do a lot of backtracking, which I find frustrating/overwhelming.

I am kind of neutral. I enjoyed it more when I could just stop on the way home from work instead of having to make a special trip, but I don’t hate it.

I enjoy it, our regular store is only a few blocks away and the employees are really nice. Being retired, I can go mid-morning on a weekday and it isn't busy at all. I do most of the cooking so I buy exactly what I need for various recipes.
