Do you drive a SUV? Which one and how do you like it?

I have an X6 "crossover" that I purchased recently, and I love it. It's a different kind of SUV though, very sporty, odd looking. I guess I was attracted to how odd it looked. I've always been a fan of odd-looking cars. This is my first crossover. Previously I've driven "real" SUVs - a Land Rover Discovery, Mitsbubishi Montero, Jeep Cherokee and Mercedes G-Class. I actually have a preference for truck-based SUVs, but really loved the looks of the X6.

I drive a Jeep Cherokee Laredo and love it:) I'm in the market for a new SUV myself but its important that I have 4X4 for both the beach and to get in and out of my long driveway after snowstorms. I rented a Chevy Equinox in FL last April and really, really liked it, it seemed luxurious;)

I don't drive a huge SUV, but I do drive a crossover SUV. It's a Hyundai Santa Fe. I LOVE it. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about it. It drives perfectly, looks beautiful and has just enough space. It feels like driving a car, but it's big enough that I feel completely safe. The steering wheel isn't too touchy, and neither is the accellerator nor the breaks. I have to say, my favorite feature is how the interior lights up blue at night. It's so pretty! Haha. And it has a HUGE trunk.

Me Too!! I just bought it two weeks ago. I said I would never have anything but a mid-size car but the Santa Fe has converted me. I love mine. I haven't found anything about it that I don't like. Everyone that has ridden in it has commented how comfortable it is.

and I must add, the blue lights are one of my favorite features too!

I have had a 2001, 2004, and now a 2007 Ford Explorer all new and I have loved each one more. The kids absolutely love the fact that the back seat can recline somewhat to make resting more comfortable. The third row seat also comes in handy when taking friends places with us.I have never had any sort of problem with any of them....knock on wood.

OP- your Volvo- was it the XC90???

We had looked into getting one of those when we bought our Acura MDX but with the problems Volvos are known for- and the fact that we don't have a dealership within 100 miles, we went with the Acura.

I've had a Ford Explorer- it was just okay, not my favorite. ALso had a Suburban- it was just way to big- I was constantly hitting things, and in order to park in a space, I had to pull in, back up , pull in, at least three times. The turn radius on a large SUV and I don't get along.;) Neither do I and Bob's Barricades (Those orange and white barricades on the road:rotfl:- that's what I call them-) but anyway...:rotfl2:

As soon as I drove the MDX, and the salesman had me whip around in the middle of the road, I was sold. I would definitely buy another one in a minute.

Good luck finding your perfect match.:goodvibes

I drive a white 2005 Kia Sportage V-6 and I truly love it. It has been a great car and the Kia dealership has been wonderful. That being said, it's not the best traveling car as far as comfort. I feel for my kids in the back when we make the 1400 mile round trip drive to Disneyworld, but they don't complain.

I sometimes think about buying a Honda Civic for the gas mileage, but it would be hard to go back to a car with a trunk and give up a hatchback, love the hatchback. Buying a new car can be stressful if you are not sure what you want. Do long test drives. Good luck! :)

I have a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer I bought in 1999, and a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer I bought in 2004. Both have been great vehicles. The older one still drives great but the gas milage has decreased a good bit.

I have a Denali XL - bought it brand new in 2004 - 94k miles and we've replaced tires/brakes and done oil changes only.

If you are looking for a large SUV I would also consider the Expedition/Navigator - the biggest reason is the 3rd row folds flat and the keypad entry exclusive to Ford is awesome!

Medium SUV, I would get a Honda Pilot/Acura MDX

Small SUV, Nissan Murano or Infiniti FX (whichever number is their larger of the smaller SUV's)

another vote for the toyota sequoia! Love my "truck". 01 with just under 100,000 on it and just this summer had the catalitic comverters (yes plural) go. but it is a work horse, we haul our camper and I routinely load it with 800-1000 pounds of grain for the animals. I have put heavier shocks and 10ply tires on it. When it goes in for maintenance the service manager tells them to treat it as if it were a tundra. I live up a nasty driveway and drive mostly back roads so I choose to run studded tires on it and I never have a problem. My dad has a tundra and I'll take mine over his any day for handling ability. they are/were built on the same frame but the tundra is so light that your all over the road in the winter with it if your not careful.

Honda Pilot that we've had 6 years; 90K + miles on it and its been very reliable and troublefree. We're not into minivans and the Pilot has worked very well for us; nice to have a third row that easily folds down or up.

Hummer H3 and I love it. In spite of GM's problems I have not had any problems at all with it. Unlike the H2 it only has a little 5 cylinder engine.

We drive a 2008 Ford Escape and love it. Almost got a Hyundai Tucson but got a better deal on the Ford and it also had a factory sunroof, but we liked the Tucson a lot and my parents are on their third Sante Fe (all by choice, no problems with any of them, they just upgraded to newer versions).

Chevy Trailblazer (LT). I love it.

:thumbsup2 Me too! I love the way it drives, rides, looks, and it's comfy to ride in! The seats are so comfortable, seriously. I won't ever drive anything else!

Another vote for the Chevy Trailblazer. I love mine!:lovestruc

Us too!! Df bought it after he totaled his car insisting we needed a family car:lovestruc I drive it most of the time but we actually just sold my 2000 grand am and are sharing :rotfl: We love it!!

My wife drives a Trailblazer (LTZ) and loves it. I find the seats to be a little uncomfortable, but she thinks that they are awesome.

My primary vehicle is a Grand Cherokee Laredo. I love it and it's been super awesome. I find the seats to be supportive, yet very comfy, which is important since the WJ has solid axles which aid in it's billy goat off road performance, but make it ride like a Jeep. Strangely, my wife finds the seats to be less than comfy. Go figure.

The Jeep is getting up in years and will likely be replaced in the next couple of years. I haven't decided to move up in size to a Tahoe/Yukon or down to a Equinox/Acadia. I'm leaning towards the GMC Acadia.

I have been driving a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser for over 2 years now. We bought it used on Ebay with 6500 miles. I ,, it!! The look of it is not for everyone, it reminds me of a car you would see in a cartoon, I think it's cute. It is small, ok for our family of 4. The cargo area isn't huge, but adequate. The thing I love most about it is that it has NO CARPETING anywhere in it. It is all rubber/plastic floors and cargo area, so cleaning out beach sand, doghair, etc, is a breeze. Just vacuum, sweep, or wipe down with a wet rag. I have had this car longer than any other car we have purchased and I intend on keeping it awhile.

When it was delivered, DH had to walk up to the front gate and drive it home. When he got out he said, "OK, what are YOU going to drive?" He ended up buying one for himself in about 4 months.

BTW, it is school bus yellow.:upsidedow

I ditto your sentiments. I love my Sequoia and if I bought a new car tomorrow it would be another Sequoia. My DH has a Tundra and I agree about it being light. I drove it the other day and when I took a corner and sped up my tires were screeching. I was so embarrassed! I feel like the Sequoia is a much more sturdy vehicle.

It was the S40. Cute car, but so many issues. Ended up donating it when it was just 8 years old. I think the XC90 is gorgeous but I can't afford another Volvo maintenance.

We drive a 2002 Suburban -- has 110,000 miles on it and nothing done except brakes/oil changes, etc...oh, and one sensor that went out a couple years ago -- quick, cheap, easy fix.

We really love it with our family of 5 and want to upgrade to a new Suburban next year. My DH has a Saturn Vue Hybrid and I don't find it as comfortable, but it gets MUCH better gas mileage!!:rotfl:
