Do you do this at the Drive up ATM?

I Love that my bank's drive up ATM doesn't use envelopes. It scans check and cash deposits and lets you verify the amount on the screen. You can even get a photocopy of the check on your receipt. Before that you didn't need to full out an envelope because the info automatically prints onto the envelope when it's deposited into the machine.

I usually try to be patient with people, but so find it annoying for people that are unprepared at the machine, especially after waiting in line. I always pull to the side before hitting the machine if there is no line and my stuff isn't ready/ endorsed. I also pull up and park to finish my business if there is someone behind me.

I'm in the minority on this one. I am staying in full view of the security camera, putting my money away, buckeling my seat belt then leaving the area completely.

Not going to pull forward out of view of the security camera and pull up to a less secure area to finish up. Especially when someone has just seen me withdrawl money from my account. Not to mention pulling up gives someone a much easier target with being able to just run up to my door.

Not gonna happen.

Our credit union's atm network is getting there. They all do the no deposit slip/ scan thing, but 75% of the machines still only scan checks. If you have cash, you need to get the envelope, hence the machine asking if you need one.

I absolutely LOVE getting the photocopies of the checks on my receipts.

And that is very, very smart!

For the most part, I also love that some ATMs scan the checks...the only drawback is if you're behind someone with a lot of checks. You need to scan each check individually. I learned the hard way sitting behind someone for over 15 minutes as he scanned each check

There are now some that will take a stack of checks at a time.

Um, not at the store where I do most of my grocery shopping. Debit cards won't register until the order's complete, and the cashiers run credit cards themselves.
Um, I guess that why I said "many" stores and not "all" stores.

I think the true lack of courtesy are the ones who are so impatient and entitled that they think their time is worth more and can't grant somebody the courtesy of allowing them 30 seconds to a couple of minutes to put their stuff in their purse or wallet.
Aren't those people deciding that they can't grant somebody the courtesy of pulling forward because they think putting their stuff away right there and then is more important than a couple of minutes of my life?

Although I am one of those throw it on the seat and get going people, usually because I have somewhere to get to, I think the true lack of courtesy are the ones who are so impatient and entitled that they think their time is worth more and can't grant somebody the courtesy of allowing them 30 seconds to a couple of minutes to put their stuff in their purse or wallet. Our snowflake children are growing up and the entitlement attitude is becoming pervasive. Move out of the way, here I come and don't make me wait an extra 30 seconds :sad2:

Yes, I can see being annoyed with somebody who pulls down their visor mirror and starts applying lipstick and getting themselves ready before moving on, but not the minute it takes to allow somebody the privilege of putting their stuff away neatly.

I actually don't like it when a car pulls ahead a length or two up to finish their business. Sorry, if you stop your car in front of mine, there is no way I am going to open my window to transact my business until you pull away. I have no idea if you are putting your cash away or if you are waiting to rob me. I would much rather you just put your stuff away at the ATM instead of getting your stuff, getting your car out of park, inching up, stopping your car again, retrieving your money and receipt off your seat, putting your receipts and cards away and then pulling out. Takes twice as long to do that.

As for filling out envelopes at the ATM - it seems like all of our ATMS have gone to the "Do you need an envelope" question where the machine spits out a single envelope during the transaction for you to fill out. There no longer are stacks of them at the ATMs that you can take a few to store at home to be prepared. So, you put in your pin number, choose deposit, put in how much and then the machine asks if you need an envelope, you push yes, it spits out the envelope, you take it into your car and fill it out as the machine is beeping "do you need more time?" and then you stick it in the deposit slot. This saves the bank money in regulating the one envelope per customer, but it does add a minute or two to the transaction. For those impatient ones, I have been known to get the envelope, cancel the transaction, and move to the back of the line. But most of the time, I take the time to finish my transaction at the machine.

And taking money out of the ATM and then putting it back in? I have done this several times. I have college kids that sometimes (ok, often) need a cash infusion. I have a copy of their atm card. I will take cash out of my account and then take the kids card and put it into their account. I could write a personal check and deposit it, but one of my kid's chosen bank has a policy of imposing a two or three day hold on a personal check. So, while the funds might be available right away, as soon as the ATM is balanced, often times a hold is put on personal check deposits. So we just deal in cash transfers. Nothing nefarious or underhanded.

yes the highlighted part is really what annoys me, I shouldn't have included seatbuckling, its the hair combs, the lipstick, that sort of fussing around before you pull out. LOL

If it only takes 30 seconds than I doubt you are bothering anyone. You *know* we are talking about people who, you can see that their transaction is done, and they sit there for at least a full minute or more. That's too long, IMO, unless it is an elderly person (and they seem to shy away from ATMs:cutie:) who struggles for various reasons. I just know that the amount of people I get stuck behind at ATMs who are fooling around in the car, can't all be due to some sort of disability or age-related issue. It just happens too often for there to be a good excuse.
exactly:thumbsup2

I wish ours did it this way. now you have to start your transaction, say deposit then get the envelope, try to fill it out while the machine is screaming at you " do you need more time?"
what a dumb set up.
I wised up and went one day and said deposit, got the envelope then cancelled my transaction, so now I always have a spare envelope in my car. so I can fill it out before.

that is a very good point

Well, that certainly does make sense, but what the poster described was 2 people on bicycles who did this repeatedly over a 10 minute period, which doesn't really sound like a parent transferring money into a child's account to me. Plus, given where I used to work, I probably tend to be more suspicious of odd banking-related behavior. ;)

Because I am short, I have to open my door and get out in order to use the ATM machine. After using it, I do not try to put everything back away, but I definitely rebuckle my seatbelt, because it is the law.

Wow! People are impatient.

I usually do buckle my seatbelt and stick my card/cash back in my wallet. It takes about 10 seconds for both.

Ditto for the grocery store. You really can't give me a few seconds to put my stuff away while I have somewhere to put my purse to do so? It is a whole lot easier to put my cards back into my wallet and stow my wallet while it is sitting on the counter than it is to juggle everything and drop things while walking away.

Please remember there are two sides to every story. You make walk away thinking I am oblivious, while I walk away thinking you are rude and pushy.:rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 And rude and pushy makes me go sloooooooooower :rotfl:
