We are meeting up with our friends who live in Orlando while we are there and they are taking us out on their boat. We were going to do it last time we went but the boat was out of the water due to the hurricanes lets hope we manage it this time. Its something very different to what we usually do in Florida. i tried to call them yesterday but they were out on the boat it must be great to be able to do this every weekend just get on and go somewhere. Its a different world over there. Does any one else do any thing different for a break from theme parks?

The usual like shopping, and I've done an airboat ride, loads of fun. Some of the surrounding areas are quite beautiful too, and sometimes its just nice to get in the car and drive around, some really cute towns nearby.

Last year we went to the Titanic Experience at the Mercado, this year me and Scott are thinking of doing the indoor sky diving and maybe going to a shooting range (Scott did this a few years ago.) Other than that it's the normal shopping, mini golf etc.

Shopping! :teeth: We did a boat trip last year too which was really nice and relaxing. I'd love to go to one of the beaches like Clearwater but I don't fancy the drive there and back in one day so we'll do this on another (hopefully longer) trip so we can do a split stay. Next year we are going to Downtown Orlando for the day hopefully.

We always mean to but, apart from a brief trip to the Florida Mall, TBH we hardly seem to venture off Disney property! We are planning a much longer trip in 2008 which will include a stay in the Florida Keys... :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Last time we were there we went on a airboat ride which was great fun, we usually do loads of shopping visiting all the malls we can find. On one trip we went on a tour to swim with the manatees in the Crystal River also have went to the beach at St Petersburgh, loads to do other than the theme parks

Last time we went we also did the titanic experience and did an airboat ride at night to see the gators which was a fantastic experience and would love to do it again. :goodvibes

I thought Disney was Orlando.

There's actually something other than Disney World there.

LOL.

Just joking.

The last few times we immersed ourselves in nothing but Disney and that was fine with us. :)

getting lost driving :lmao:

happens us all the time
it has now become part of the holiday , always make sure we have plenty single dollars for the tolls in the car

I can recommend the 4 night Disney cruise (the 3 night one is too short and not much cheaper !).....not as expensive as you think (if booked direct from a good US website or DCL) and great value for money

...........and you can still be doing Disney :cheer2:

I think if you visit regularly the theme parks can become too familiar to a degree and it's important (certainly for us) that we do different things to keep the holiday fresh.

Certainly our next visit (2007, perhaps?) we would definitely do a 2 centre type and spend time at the beach and just generally travel around a bit more, we have been fortunate to have been to many parts of Florida and I think it is worthwhile going back to that now and leaving Orlando for part of the holiday.

To just 'do Disney' would be unthinkable to be honest.

we've done the airboat ride, mini golf and the space centre, but next year we're going to do the indoor skydive thing, St Augustine and Downtown Orlando. We were going to go to the Kissimmee Rodeo but I've heard it's closed down.
