This is my most favorite time of the year to decorate. What are your Halloween and Fall decorating plans?

I'm a huge Halloween decorator. One of my GD's is at Disney, she will be home on Monday and the decorating begins. All my Grandchildren help decorate the yard, except Nathan because he's 14 and it's not cool anymore, unless I invite a bunch of teenage girls.

Got some great idea's from the Martha Stewart "Holiday" issue. Like her, hate her, she sure does know how to add pizzazz to your decorating plans. There's 125 wickedly wonderful how-to ideas. Even from the "Big House" Martha rules when it comes to hauntingly good things.

Martha at the Big House! LOL, Mamu! :teeth:

I bet that within a week or so, she'll have her new spare surroundings looking comfortable and inviting! Maybe she could spiff up the orange jumpsuits (already a classic look ;))too! :teeth:

What a wonderful, fun place, your home must be for your grandkids, Mamu! That is so nice! :sunny:

I do a little bit of Halloween decorating, but not much. I do have some Fall-ish mums outside, and closer to fright night, I'll be putting up some ghost lights that I have. Other than that, Halloween candles, and a Fall wreath for the door, are about it.

I agree that Martha does have some great ideas and some things are not that hard to put together which makes things alot easier and more inviting to try and make.
I don't do as much decorating here since people don't come trick-or-treating at our house, but we put make a jack-o-lantern...it took DH 5 hours last year to carve out the pattern he wanted, so hopefully this year it will take him less time.
I have a fake jack-o-lantern that has a light bulb that you can turn on, so that's now Shayla's new toy but I do use that to decorate with.
I have a Halloween sign and also those Halloween stick ons for the window.
I am also participating in some Halloween exchanges, so we'll see what I may get from those.

I don't decorate anymore. I miss my son being younger. It just isn't as much fun to decorate anymore :(

I don't do much. I have a couple of skeleton wind-socks hanging out front, some pumpkin window sticky's, a light-up spider web on the front window, a fall wreath on the door and a huge mum on the porch. When we get back :Pinkbounc :bounce: the boys and I will add some carved pumpkins.

I love Martha's Halloween decorating magazine.

I don't decorate much for Halloween anymore either. The most I do now is rummage around in the basement for the halloween baskets to hold the candy in that we give out .

DH's niece, however, loves Halloween. It has always been her favorite time of year and now that she has three young boys (2, 5 & 9) they are the perfect age to appreciate her decorating and what is becoming her annual halloween party.

Her love of Halloween, however, has caused a slight conflict in her marriage. Because her DH is from China, he cannot understand this holiday and why someone would want to bring skeletons and goblins and ghouls out on the porch, let along INSIDE the house. She had told the boys to be quiet about her newest acquisition: a life-size dracula with glowing eyes. She figured she would keep it in the basement where the party would be and her DH would never know because he won't go down there when it is set up like a haunted house. Well, she got busted because the very day she brought it home, despite asking her boys to keep it a surprise, they quickly dragged their daddy downstairs to see "the monster".

It turned out okay. Her DH may be superstitious but he enjoys seeing his boys having fun and, fortunately, they didn't know enough to be able to tell Daddy how much money Mommy spent on it! LOL!

Grandchildren and I decorated all weekend.

Some cool additions to the graveyard scene. Besides the Grim Reaper we made some new stones. "Cousin Kathleen" who tried to cross this street on Halloween, including a ghost carrying a full halloween bag. "Uncle Ned" some say he isn't really dead, he walks these streets when were in bed, including a pair of old workboots we painted with Glow-in-the-dark paint. "Kitty Cat" who got eaten by that nasty rat, including a large yellow triangular box that says "Farewell Ratigan" with a large rat. "Mr Brown" buried 6 feet under ground, with lots of bones coming through the ground. Spanish moss draped on the fence and stones.

We also sponge painted pumpkin's different collors, reds, blues, purples, greens and whites.

The haunted flowergarden with its ghosts. Tomato cages turned upside-down, a large styroform ball w/ a white sheet draped over, a ribbon tied around the neck.

The Enchanted Deck, a huge crochet spider web w/tons of spiders.

Front porch, Broom Hilda cooking up a potion, including a black cat, a rat, some frogs and toads, spiders, a raven, some mushrooms, basket of yucky apples and moldy looking pumpkins. While Minnie and Mickey dance below in the flower garden.

I love Halloween decorations, but I never put any outside.

All the spiders outdo me anyway.

Mamu! Such fun! How imaginative! I would love to see this. (Did you ever get that digital camera? - hint, hint) Where do you come up with all these ideas?

Olena - Me too, especially this year - the spiders are doing some job with the cobwebs all around the house! LOL!

Wow Mamu, you guys went all out!! It sounds ghoulish, ghastly, and great!! :p

You must get so many people coming by, wanting to have a look at everything! :)

What a great imagination you have! :)

DH used to dress up for Halloween, and he had some pretty awesome costumes. The problem was, he really did scare some of the smaller kids, and felt so bad about it, he stopped. :)

The best costume he ever did was a mummy. He tore an old white bedsheet into strips, and soaked it in the laundry tub with tea to colour it. He had rubber snakes that he wove in and out through his wrappings. He was entirely covered, and looked awesome, very gruesome. The only problem was, when he had to use the facilities. He hadn't thought about that beforehand, and had to totally unwrap himself!! It was pretty funny! :teeth:
