Do you cut out the design before ironing on?

Hi there,
I am getting ready to make my shirts for the first time. I have white shirts, light transfer paper and Mickey Head disigns. Should I cut the Mickey Head out before ironing on? Silly question but how do you decide what color shirt to use? Do you just try to coordinate it with the disign? That's why I went with white; I just wasn't sure. Thanks!

It looks a lot better if you trim the designs before ironing them on. With light transfer paper the background color of the shirt shows through and there will be no white on your design unless you do use white shirts. So no problem for you since you are using white shirts. Have fun!
