Seems that everyone is talking about the upcoming holiday weekend, implying that people have four consecutive days off for Independence Day. But it seems it will be a regular weekend with Monday a normal work day, and Tuesday a Federal Holiday.
So, do you consider the upcoming weekend a holiday weekend?

Locally, the issue has been complicated by the fact that some communities have moved their community fireworks shows to Saturday, July 1. I feel sorry for pet owners near those displays because their animals will have to deal with the loud noises on both July 1, and July 4.

Voted other. You're correct, of course, about Monday the 3rd not being any kind of holiday at all, but I feel like quite a few people figure out how to make it a 4 day weekend if scheduling permits.

Being retired, every weekend is a 4 day weekend followed by 3 consecutive Saturdays. :earboy2:

Both DH and I get the 4th off, and DH has no plans to work on the 3rd, making it a 4 day holiday weekend for him. I don’t have enough PTO though, so I’ll be working on the 3rd. I anticipate the office being empty though.

Voted 4-day weekend. Our office is giving us a "bonus holiday" on Monday, and we were already off on Tuesday.

Not a particularly fun one for me -- driving to IN to help DD clean her apartment WELL for probably the first time in 2 years. My name is on the lease, and I'm a bit worried about getting the deposit back when her lease ends in January. Driving on Saturday super, super early, back on Monday morning.

DH will stay with our dog, who does get more anxious about the fireworks than any of our other dogs did. So we've got the anxiety pills ready -- we have to give them to her 2-3 hours before needing them.

If my husband was with his prior company it's likely they would have given Monday off in addition to Tuesday. Not sure if the 4th is a Wednesday or Thursday.

His present company it's just Tuesday off.

That said I'm willing to bet there will be people who will use vacation time for Monday. In addition Monday is a common remote day so it's possible people will gain more time just by not having a commute if they work from home.

Retired here too. As my father in law put it when he retired, he no longer got holidays, vacation or sick time when he retired!
In my job, holidays were not days off, just a PTO day to be taken later since holidays were normal business days.

I'm in Canada, so it is in fact a long weekend for me!
I spent some time at Candle Lake, Saskatchewan on both Canada Day and July 4th and people were setting off fireworks both days.

Did he get Juneteenth off?

When you are retired every day is a holiday. Enjoy your 4th celebration!

Monday is a normal work day for us. But from what I’ve seen most people are taking it off. I’m technically onPTO all next week just to burn up some time but will probably work off and on Monday just to ensure my staff isn’t overwhelmed with it being the beginning of the month.

My company is 24/7/365, but my department is not. I have Tuesday as a paid holiday and am taking Monday off too as PTO to give myself the 4 day weekend. i have plenty of PTO available, so why not make it a long weekend?
