Do you consider this rude?

We will have the late dinner seating on the 7-night western this July. Our DSs are 14 and 15 and I know they will be anxious to get to the nighttime activities.

Would it be rude to allow them to leave the dining room after dinner while DH and I relax there with coffee, dessert or a drink?

I know social activities are so important at that age and at the same time some relaxing conversation time with DH would be great!

Doesn't seem rude to me. They're on vacation, let them have fun.

I wouldn't consider that rude at all! If you are seated with other guests, I think it would be polite of them to ask to be excused from the table..instead of just running off. I think it would be just fine! Enjoy your quite time with DH!

I don't think it would be rude at all. As WDWCrazzyCunninghams suggested if you are sitting with others just have them excuse themselves and say good night.

People are coming and going all thru dinner. They would not be even remotely out of place doing so.

I second the motion, not rude in my book either, My grandson, came to dinner with us (late seating) age 10 and then left to go to kids club. Said his goodbyes to everyone at the table and off he went. Server always made sure his dinner was out asap after we sat down so he would eat. That's what I call service.

Note rude at all, we sailed with a family with two teenage daughters and they seldom stayed for dessert. The four adults left at the table enjoyed coffee and dessert. The girls were beautiful and well mannered. We enjoyed their company.

I would say not rude at all!
In the course of 36 cruises, we have been seating with families with kids of varying ages. Often, the older kids are just itching to be excused to go with their friends or to activites, and the younger ones want to leave early to go to the club. I've never considered it rude at all. I just take it as part of being young and on a Disney cruise with so much to do and so little time to do it. As a matter of fact, I've been known to get my dessert "to go" and bring it to Wavebands when I'm rushing to get to an event.

No problem whatsoever. I agree with other posters that you should prompt them a bit on how to make a graceful exit, but I think everyone would rather see them enjoy themselves rather than squirm at the table looking at their watches.

IF my children would eat with us at all (some nights they did room service so they wouldn't miss club activities), they always wanted to leave before we were done. It worked out really well; their food would come with our appetizers, then their dessert w/our entrees and one of us would take them to the club and come back for dessert. Our first cruise we had a table of 4 so it was no big deal. Our second cruise we were traveling with friends that also had 2 children so it worked perfectly.

People are up/down throughout the entire meal; it will be no big deal whatsoever for your children to leave when they're finished!
