Do you consider this a cuss word?

Honestly, I think that the people who are behind the thing are probably uneducated and don't really know the true meanings of those words. I guess they sound like "bad" words (but I don't know too many people who use anus in the form of a curse, they usually go with the word those people must be thinking of when they hear asinine).

There clearly ARE epithets in all languages that are not utilized in the media or on moderated bulletin boards. However, I feel that it's a puritanical throwback to censor simple anatomical terms. Well at least the DIS allows us to say, "He's a reaaaaaaaaaal buttock";) ;) ;) ;) ...........

I don't consider either a "cuss" word, although I've noticed a number of people around here get uneasy when I talk about being "anal" - in reference to myself, not them! ;) However, if I use the full term "anal retentive" it somehow seems less offensive to them.

And Beauty - are you sure we're not married to the same person?!?!? ROFL!! :D :D :D I though my DH was the only one who had to tie up all the cables in little bundles behind every electronic piece of equipment in the house! LOL

Deb

BTW - Does anyone have a non-cuss word for someone who is more anal than a full-fledge type-A anal retentive queen? ;)

In the hospital we would say that such a person has a sky-high AST (anal sphincter tone):) :) :)

I like that! I'll have to try to remember that, but I know I'll get into trouble because it's going to wind up sounding like "bum-bum" when I say it! ;)

I find neither word offensive but in fact descriptive. I agree the people wanting to ban the literature are probably uneducated. Kinda like those individuals who call me up at work and say, "uh, I took 30 oxycontin...do you think that was too many?" We label those individuals TSTL (to stupid to live).

The words don't bother me..I don't say them but not because I consider them swear words..I can have the trashiest language when I get mad! Now my Mom goes absolutly nuts when she hears someone use the word anal when talking about somebody..she can't stand the term!

Naw, not cuss words in my house. Altho, I'm not sure I'd want almost 5yoDD using words she doesn't understand yet. ;)

Nope not curse words.

Eros--Love the high AST, have to remember that one.

The older ladies at work get offended when I say the word "suck". rofl. I believe they have a high AST.

Perhaps the parents should get together and contribute a dictionary to John-Cole's school. They're apparently in need of one. Yikes!
