Do You Check Your Spouse's Pockets Before Doing Laundry?

I don’t check but probably should, but then again, it’s really up to the person throwing their clothes in the hamper to check their own pockets. My son is the worst. Not once but twice, he left his Pokémon cards in his pockets and they got ruined in the machine. He lost access to the cards after that since he wasn’t careful. Those cards weren’t cheap either.
I’ve found rocks, candy, wrapped gum, tissues, money in the machine after the fact.

Gosh you reminded me of the time we sent older son to a 3 week science sleep over camp during the summer. Upon his return I opened his footlocker and found a whole lot of rocks(No no not pebbles. Rocks) and clean underwear.

Things that make you go hmmm and give you something to talk about at family get-togethers.....

No because I don’t do his laundry. (this makes my sister clutch her pearls, lol) I do mine and the younger kids. They are in charge of pulling their clothes right side out, emptying their pockets and separating them into lights and darks. Occasionally I’ll run into a hair tie or some random little thing DS has found and picked up. (Once I opened the dryer and there was a very realistic rubber snake. I’m very snake phobic so FREAKED even though common sense told me it couldn’t be real and even if it was after a trip through the dryer it would be dead.)

The only thing I ever put in my pocket is my phone and I’m in the habit of taking it out and setting it on the counter when I get home. It’s highly unlikely I’d send it through wash so no, don’t check my pockets either.

Older DD is another story and does not do any of what I taught her. She has destroyed and had to replace a company Chef’s jacket when she left a pen in the pocket, a brand new pair of Bose Wireless earbuds and my FitBit Zip I let her borrow just to name a few. You’d think she’d have learned her lesson but nope. Always finding chapsticks, pens and what not in the washer after she has done her laundry. I check both washer and dryer very thoroughly after she has used them.

I don't check pockets but I also only do my own laundry. Everyone in the family does his own.

I check both of ours. I do not think he does when he does the laundry.

Yes! DH is horrible about leaving gum & Chapstick in his pockets and I don't want his stuff ruining my clothes or causing a big mess in the dryer. But if I washed an important paper of his b/c he neglected to empty his pockets before tossing them in the dirty clothes bin, I don't think I would feel too bad ...
