or use your credit card/cash? I'm trying to carry as little in the parks as possible and thinking about charging everything we buy to our room. We will be on the dining plan, but i'll bring cash for tips. Do you trust that it's safe? I did hear about the women who skimmed credit cards at disney. Also does everywhere that takes credit cards in disney take a kttw card? Meaning I won't need my cc for anything?

I always charge everything to the room, so I won't need to carry any other CC around with me. I do bring just a little cash for some of the places that don't allow charging. We have never had any problem using our KTWC for charges and our CC has always been charged properly. :goodvibes

I only used the room charge on one trip and, while it wasn't bad in any way, it just wasn't for me.
Partly because I like to be able to look at old credit card statements online and seeing where I shopped and how much I spent when planning for my next trip (I know I get the printout at the end of my stay, but I lost it ) And partly because I have the Disney Visa and have to use it to get the merchandise discount anyway.

I charge it all to the room and save every receipt in an envelope and on the last day when they hang the bill on the door i check all the charges off....seems like they always make a couple mistakes. Last time it was over 25 dollars! So always check.

It depends on how much the item cost. If it's not that expensive then we will use cash, however for most of our other purchases we will charge them to our room.

Yep...we charge everything to the room. It's just easier that way for us.

I do this too. But whereas the PP has found mistakes on the bill, we have not. Even still.....I always check.....you never know when those once-in-a-blue-moon mistakes will occur.

We have debated paying cash, or taking a credit card with us for our purchases/tips, etc., but we ALWAYS end up charging everything to the room. It's just too easy. It's just another thing that makes me feel like I'm on a true vacation from reality.:goodvibes

:) The only problem with charging everything to the room for us has been getting our credit upped one time. We were staying in a Value and after several days went over the alloted credit they place on your KTTW card, of course a quick call to the resort fixed it, but still embarassing for me--standing at a cash register like I didn't have the money. Last year we were at the Cali Grill our first evening and placed the dinner on our KTTW card with DP and it wouldn't go through. Had to pay the waiter because the check in CM had not activated the card. I was livid becasue of where we were. Will it keep us from charging to the room, no. It is very convienent, put we always review our statements.

We use or KTW card and charge everything to the room. I keep all the receipts in an envelope with a running tab on the front of it like a check register so I know exactly how much I am spending and then I check it against the final bill to make sure there are no mistakes. I have never had a problem.

We charge and also bring a little cash each day with us. We find easier to charge everything and we have never had any discrepancies with our final bill.

We charge everything to the room and bring cash for the few places that don't allow charging (like some snack stands). We did run into reaching the charging limit on our last trip and had our card not go through. We were ready for a break anyway so we just went back to the hotel to take care of it. By the time we made it back to the hotel, the credit card we attached to our room had been used to cover our charges and we were good to go. Given that, I'd say a call back to the hotel would have fixed the problem too. :)

I must say for the last bunches of trips, room key charges the whole way, so much easier just carrying your key than worrying about cash or other credit cards. Long ago it was a pain planning a trip, how much cash, denominations and then travelers checks (bigger pain) and carrying some of it around. Now a days, we check in, puut alittle cash and the rest of my cards in the safe and forget about them. We're all over WDW and never had a problem charging back to the room, we check the print out against our receipts and it's always been right. We take Disney's free transportation along with the room charging as why we keep going back there for vacations. Plus, I use Discover and enjoy the cash back bucks in return.

We just use the room key. It all goes to the credit card anyways. If the charge is small, DH will use cash.

We charge everything possible to our room. I love it. We carry our room card and our debit card. We carry no more than $20.00 in cash at any given time as I hate to carry cash. I live and die by my debit card. We usually spend $400 to $500 per trip, based on the room charges tallied at the end of our stay. This is how I can tell friends & family how much WE spend per trip. Usually first-timers always want to know "how much do we need to take" and I tell them how much we spend. This generally gives them a basic idea on how much they need to spend during their trip. For first-timers I say take almost double that as you will want to buy everything you see at the parks and DTD. LOL

We use our KTW card for all our charges. My dd's both have gift cards to use and the cash they have saved I will turn that into a GC for them as well. I do bring cash for tips but it is very minimal. Especially this year since we are on the QSDP.

Was wondering what the "Key to the World" is? Is it your room key, tickets and credit card all in one?

Yes. It is like a credit card with a magnetic strip on the back. Everything is on there key to your room, charging privillages, tickets and dining plan. It makes life simple! One card does it all. Everyone in your party will get one.

Thanks will be doing this! What is the limit normally? How long does it take to be able to start charging to your KTTK card? Meaning if I check in at 8 am and want to buy something at the park at 9 will it be ready?

WHat if you have DDP as well, a little worried something may be charged to my credit instead of DDP by accident. Twice even tho I didnt have charging on my card a snack or CS meal was charged to my room, I was able to have it fixed but..

Charging amounts are
deluxe 1500.00
Moderates 1000.00
Values 500.00
But you can go to the front desk and have them reset it if you think you are near your limit. We are staying value and we we stay there we usally have to have ours reset even with the dining plan. I guess we buy to many souviners.

We typically charge everything we can, and carry a little cash for incidentals like baloons that cannot be charged. I do have a question however. Can you pay your room charge bill with a disney gift card? Is there anything in the parks that cannot be paid for with a gift card? I am considering using gift cards as a savings method for the next trip.
