I find that the more I know about some of these people, the less I like them. So, no, I don't care about them and do not read magazines, gossip sites, etc.

To each their own, but in my opinion, this obsession we have with celebrities is ridiculous----I no longer watch any news on television because Lindsay Lohan is apparently more important than the economy, the war we are fighting, etc.

We lived in Newport Beach, CA prior to moving here to San Diego this past March. Many celebs lived in NB, nope, we did not care at all. They would be in restaurants and the malls but they do their thing and we did ours! :goodvibes

And i really dont care when they die;)

Those super sad DIS posts-

Celebrity ABC has died!
And the responses-I remember when i saw their FIRST movie!

(Who cares????)

-kinda crack me up:confused3:lmao:

I also do not follow or care about what they are doing, but I do feel bad when one of them dies. Celebrity or not I feel bad when anyone dies. I think about the loved ones they left behind- what they are going through. I think about what the deceased person is missing out on with holidays, or different special occasions that might of been coming up, so on.

IMO it is always sad when someone dies.

I voted other.

I voted other: I care about what celeb's are doing professionally, because it might be something I want to experience or avoid completely. For example, if Bono does some side project, or gets himself injured and puts the U2 concert on hold, I want to know about it. If it is something personal, I don't care.

I hate the gossip columns and magazines. I think they are awful and I don't read them. But I do care if a performer's personal life is going to have an impact on his performance. If I had tickets to see Aerosmith and heard that Steven Tyler was going back to rehab, or if Iron Man 3 was delayed or cancelled because Robert Downey Jr was going to jail, then I'd be interested in that. But frankly I wouldn't care so much about the personal part - just the effect it would have on their careers.

These posts sum up how I feel. I have another, more selfish reason for caring when a celebrity dies, though. It makes me sad when one of my favorite performers dies because I'm sorry that I won't be able to see him perform again. One of my favorite actors died fairly recently and I was really sorry to hear it, because even though he hadn't acted in a while I kept thinking he would again at some point. Now he won't, and I think that's a shame.

I think all the hoopla & gossip around some of the celebrities just brings more attention to the train wrecks in their lives.......think Linsdsay Lohan & Charlie Sheen.

To me it sensationalizes all the negatives in their lives & shows what total mess-ups they are.

Of course I are. They are humans, I am human, I care.

A friend of mine is the son of a much older, now-late, celebrity, and when his dad died, it was so so hard on him. Celebrities are people, they hurt just like us, and when a celebrity dies it affects their families. And they get to deal with all the normal stuff, along with all the nastiness that can come out...

I don't really get into celebrities who are famous just for being famous, but for those that contribute something obvious to the world, even if it's just being a really good actor.

I have very little interest in movie, TV, or music "celebrities"...

however, I am a bit of a British royal watcher. It all just interests me.

I pretty much care zero about celebs. I will say that I am inherently nosey, and sometimes I will read, if I have nothing to do and am waiting at the check out line but that is about it. I pretty much have zero respect for them and so I really don't care what they are doing.

:thumbsup2

This. I do read the magazines while I am in line at the checkout. But I don't care, really, and generally speaking, I do not have that much respect for the vast majority of them.

I think "care" is a strong word. I do read about them for fun and like another poster I am interested in their side projects or business.

i said other because i don't buy the mags but i'll flip through them in line or read them in the dr office.

i'll also watch the entertainment shows if i'm not busy and there's nothing else on but i don't go out of my way to prv them or rush home to see it.

interestingly Prince William has just got engaged and I'm watching to see when their wedding date will be.

for 2 reasons.

1 - i'm of british parents and my grandmother was a total royal junky so we often talked about them and i remember waking up at 4 in the morning to watch all the wedding stuff so it would be exciting to have my daughter wake up with me early and enjoy her generations royal wedding.

2 - we just yesterday booked a trip to london. My aunt lives in england and we'll be seeing her for 2 weeks but we are spending the first week in London and i'm waiting to hear what they have chosen for their wedding date because i DON"T want to be anywhere near London within 2 weeks of the wedding. it would be a madhouse and we wouldn't be able to visit buckingham palace, windsor castle, westminister abby etc becuase they will be closed to the public. PLUS millions of people invading London will push the price of hotels (which are already higher then here) skywards. AND London is a busy place as it is in the summer without adding millions more - not interested in wall to wall people for my holiday.

so i sit and wait until it's announced :)

I don't care to read celebrity news, but I have some favorite musicians that I follow on Facebook who author their own posts. That's just fun to me. It's not gossip or even news, but it's fun to read how they're spending their time on the road or studio. I think I knew when Slash finished each track off his new album. I knew what yoga studio Michael Franti visited in each town on his tour. I got a glimpse of Grace Potter's cool dresses every night before the shows.

Don't know if it's better or worse than watching or reading the entertainment "news" but I like it because it's genuine and true.

I voted other because you didn't give a middle ground as an option. Do I care? to a point but I do not "follow" their entire lives. I occasionally watch e-news & similar, read the headlines on people magazine at the store, etc. Heck even the mainstream news programs have celebrity news, so I guess America as a whole must care if Lindsay, Britney & Paris are in jail, rehab, etc.

I voted no, but I have to admit there are a few celebrities I might be excited to meet in person :goodvibes.

Nope, not in the slightest. My fiance is in the music/entertainment business and so am I. I've met several big name rock stars because of it *some of them are friends of my fiance*, and they are just normal people like everyone else who's job happens to put them in the eye of the public. What they do with their life doesn't affect me or my life. The world does not stop for me when a celebrity or public figure screws up, does something stupid, or gets divorced.

There's an A-lister who visits his best friend and cousin every once in a while in our neighborhood and has at times actually camped out here for months for the privacy. (His grandparents are from our small town.) We always know when he's here because the town grapevine goes into overdrive and every woman in a five mile radius decides to start taking long walks through our neighborhood. :lmao:

DH and I don't really care, although it's fun to hear about. I figure they've got enough to deal with without me gawking, so I just consider him the neighbor's vaguely strange cousin, and Lord knows we've got a lot of those in Louisiana!

That's about the extent of me caring about celebrities!

someone must care because there is an awful lot of TV shows and magazines that highlight the rediculous antics of so called celebrities.

I don't know their names and they don't know mine. I really wouldn't know one if they walked up and offered me an autograph.
