Do you buy into supporting the other Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs?

OK everyone, there's only one Canadian team left. There's lots of room left on the band wagon. We even welcome Leaf fans on board.
Hooray for Montreal!!!!
We still have that 25% Canadian Content for the next round! Go Team Canada!:cool1:

No thank you because I know if the roles were reversed the Canadiens fans would not want the Leafs to win.

Not true....not good to generalize.........................

"I tossed and turned all last night with the knowledge that the Montreal's made it to the next round. Makes me sick to my stomach. Any US team can have the Stanley Cup this year if it means keeping it from Montreal hands. Will never support a Montreal hockey team, ever.

Just got to say "WOW"

Well I based that answer on things I have read on various Hockey message boards like HFBoards and etc.

I also find it to be hypocritical that in the past in the past when Leafs won in the 1st or 2nd rounds fans of other NHL teams across Canada would say it's dumb for Leafs fans to be celebrating down the streets of Toronto. Well Montreal fans are doing the exact same thing, so how is that any different?

NO matter what team in Canada wins, the die-hard fans of another Canadian market will be critical. Not necessarily all fans, but there are a few sour apples in every market.
What I find disgusting is the vandalism that follows the win by those who are 'opportunists' and go for the smash and grab, pretending to be Habs/Home team fans. I hope that the police are better prepared to take these guys on when the Canadiens move on to the finals.

I found it to be more funny that the Montreal police would say the people who were doing the vandalism and etc were not Canadiens fans, even though picutres I saw online were of those people wearing Canadiens jerseys and etc that were doing the vandalism. So it's almost like the Montreal police don't want to associate their fans with those type of people which I can understand, but the pictures don't lie.

I am totally disgusted with the behaviour of a minority of people.

The ones that did the vandalizing had planned it - they work scarves over their faces. Very easy to wear a Canadians shirt to blend in with the crowd.

Apparently 30 + people were arrested.... Hope they catch them all!

The same looting happened in Edmonton in 2006 when they had the cup run, losing by the "Hartford Whalers".

My family be in Montreal during the Victoria Day Weekend. Looking forward to seeing all the city decked out in the run for 25th.

Don't believe that this arguement holds water. What better way to fit in than to wear a Habs jersey whether you were at the game or not. It's not like the jerks causing all the trouble are going to show up dressed all in black with hoods covering their faces.

If I wear a Leafs jersey (as if) and break into a store near the ACC, does that automatically mean that Leafs fans are to blame?

Up till now 41 people have been arrested and there may be moreThere were 3 stores vandalized. The way it was reported, I thought that there were many more stores vandalized. Although, one store is one too many.

These people were ready for trouble - it was reported that many had bricks and bottles in their knapsacks, scarves to cover their faces and hoodies..... Sounds like real hockey fans - NOT!

It's too bad that a small group of people can ruin what was supposed to be a joyous celebration!

There is a difference between what you described compared to hundreds or more people wearing Canadiens jerseys and causing vandalism. It's also not the first time that happened in Montreal because remember that also happened after they beat Boston in the 1st round back in 2008, so it's not like this was first time their fans have caused riots and vandalism.

Hello! I'm new to this board and got curious about that thread. Just to get the facts clear, the game was in Pittsburg but the Bell Center in Montreal showed the game and it was filled to capacity.
After the game there was a huge show organized in the parking lot to diffuse the flow of people. But a large part of Ste Catherine street was already blocked for people to celebrate. The huge amount of people that we saw on the news were celabrating.
The vandalism part of the evening began at around midnight, quite a while after the game ended. The people who were part of it were organized and the fans that remained left the premises when the authorities began their intervention.
The medias you looked at might not have reported it that way, but it's what is being said in the news here in Montreal. It certainly wasn't hundreds of people causing vandalism. If it really were the case, there would have been much more damage than that.

They weren't all vandals. The vast majority of people were celebrating the fantastic win by the Habs.

Agreed. There were people there who were opportunists. Don some Habs jerseys, meld in with the crowd of revelers, then start the smash & grab. I have other words for those who did that, but I'd likely be banned from this board.
