get all dressed up or wear casual clothes for Thanksgiving dinner? We usually wear casual clothes (not shorts)....

Last year, our clothes were a "bit" too casual for my brother and SIL, they made comments about that. We have Thanksgiving dinner at our house and I do the cooking, I guess they chose to focus on what we were wearing.

What does your family do?

We got to my SIL's sister's house, and it is definitely casual. :) The kids play outside, we all wear jeans, very laid back. Perfect for us. :)

We used to dress up a tad more. I think one year though I just didn't have time to change into my "nice" clothes after cooking so they took a cue from me for the next year. I didn't mind really since we normally don't dress up for any meals this one feels more like a family meal to me now :)

Casual for dinner......then sweats to play football later. This year we even have special "Turkey Bowl" t-shirts, complete with numbers and nicknames....compliments of a special cousin.

Casual here - but when DD goes to her in-laws, there's a "dress code"..

When we go somewhere for Thanksgiving, then we dress up a bit. But when we have it at home, it is definitely casual.

When my grandparents were alive we always dressed up.

For the last 5 years, one of my cousins has hosted Thanksgiving at her horse farm. We eat outside and the kids usually go swimming, so it's definitely casual.

Nicer casual...not jeans and a t-shirt, but khakis and a golf shirt for the men. For the girls, casual pants and a sweater usually. Comfortable, not sloppy, I guess is the best way to describe it.

Oh, we have a running joke in my household on what people are wearing for Thanksgiving.

My sister (hi Vanessa, if you are lurking!!) arrives to Thanksgiving dinner looking like she has just stepped off the runway. But then again, Vanessa rarely leaves the house when she isn't dressed head to toe, but on Thanksgiving and Christmas, we know she spends hours preparing herself for the big day. :teeth: Last year, I believe she was a vision in winter white, right Ness? :teeth:

Then my SIL, the trashy one, she is always good for a gander at Thanksgiving. More than likely she will appear in something that shows off her new boob job and her new belly ring. The girl knows no boundries when it comes to bad taste, so its Thanksgiving at the local brothel whenever she is around for the big day. :)

Then we always have a few strays, usually people that I know from my art business who have nowhere else to go for T-day. And they are artsy, so they always wear something eclectic.

The rest of us dress casual. :)

Casual if we are going to my side,a little more dressed up if we are going to the in-laws.

We don't wear our grungies, but we don't get dressed up either. Usually khakis and a nice shirt or something like that. This year we may go out to eat, since it's just DH, me, and my great big belly, so we'll dress as nicely as we should for whatever restaurant we pick.

Very casual. However if we are going to someone's house or having company I do try to make sure we're all clean etc. - same as anytime. More like school clothes than church clothes, I guess.

At my house you wear what you want. We dress up to our good jeans most of the time. lol I rarely have shoes on though.
At the inlaws it's a little nicer. I wore a dress once. :teeth:
I grew up with everyone playing football before and after dinner, I still want to play I guess. :)

I guess it's casual for most of us.

When my brother and SIL made their comments about our casual clothes, I really had to bite my tongue. My mom kept trying to appease me in the kitchen, I threatened to toss my SIL's green beans in bacon (she is vegetarian). My mom kept telling me to ignore them and that Thanksgiving only comes once a year.:p I think she said something to my brother later on.

I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving though!

at least neat. But the last few years it's been casual.

we usually go Casual so that when the food fight breaks out we dont ruin our good clothes

Depends on who is comin to dinner! ;)

This year it's just hubby and I........I'm looking forward to walkin around all day in whatever I want........... :)

When we had big gatherings we'd wear nice pants and a sweater or a dress but nothing overly fancy. More like business casual. If it was just immediate family, jeans were fine.
