Do you always pay full price?

Hi there...are there ever any discounts on ABD trips? Where is the best place to look, and are you more likely to get discounts if you book far ahead, or closer to the day of travel? Are there any travel agents you'd recommend going through? What about booking an ABD trip while you're on a Disney cruise - any discounts there?

Thanks for the info!

We recieved a free 3 day cruise on DCL when we booked our trip in 2009. They even included the tips. They do run specials sometimes. I go through our local A** office and pay what they tell me.

CostCo has been the lowest net price the last few years (after rebates).

The agents that sponsor this site offer some good deals as well.

It's kind of unpredictable. ABD has a pricing range for each trip, and most trips will start with the prices at the low end of the range right when they are announced, and the price will be adjusted up (and up) for a particular departure as it fills up. So, in general, the earlier you book, the cheaper the trip is.

That said, ABD does on occasion run specials, but they are usually only for certain trips and certain departures that aren't selling as well. As carpenta said, one year they gave away a free 3-day cruise with certain trips. They've offered discounts with certain trips, too. But those usually don't come out until much closer to the trip dates. Since ABD's deposits are non-refundable after 14 days, it's kind of a crapshoot as to whether it's better to book early to get the cheapest base rate, or hold out to see if there are any specials.

I received a $300 Visa Gift Card from ABD last year, but like sayhello said, those types of incentives are offered intermittently and only on specific trips and dates. I haven't seen any offers this year. It is risky to wait to see if there will be any offers, especially if you dates aren't flexible or there is one specific itinerary you have your heart set on. The price on all the dates for the new Scotland trip have gone up by $1000 since the rates were announced for 2013. The price of our Peru trip has increased by $540 over the initial price. I'm very glad I didn't wait to book.

Best way to save some money is to book through a travel agent like DU or Costco that offer a rebate.

Not sure if they're still doing it, but I got a 10% off discount on the two 2013 ABD trips I booked while onboard the Fantasy this past June. Booked Knights & Lights for June 17 (traveling with DH and DS) and Quest for the West for July 1 (traveling with BFF). Can't wait for the summer to get here!

Thanks for all the info...one last question - how far ahead do they publish the trips? Any estimate when the 2014 schedule will come out?

In previous years the itineraries were announced in late July/early August timeframe. This year the 2013 itineraries were announced in late May.

I subscribe to JetSetter travel deals and they actually have the ABD Italy excursion on sale right now. There are several dates to choose and I didn't pay attention to when they were. I scrolled and saw that the price for 2A, 2C was close to $15,000 with the discount. I didn't price it out with ABD.

I rcvd a $300/pp promotional discount through my TA for my upcoming Costa Rica ABD. I probably would've booked it myself otherwise. This was my first time using a TA and it's been a fabulous experience.
