hotel in the Savannah area? We are driving down next thursday and hope to make it to the Savannah area? Do I need to book somewhere now or should we just wing it? Also if anyone can reccomend someplace decent in or around that area please do.

Thanks.

If it's not a holiday weekend I would just wing it and not worry about a reservation. There are plenty of motels in the Pooler area (exit 104, I think) and a few at exit 94. Each exit has a Microtel Inn that are pretty nice, and there's also Hampton Inn in the area.

We live in Richmond and can make it to Savannah in about 8 hours or so.

Just a note -1 night when we stopped later (6 pm) we got the last available rooms. We had our AAA book and called about a half hour away, when we arrived Dh said there were a couple of people arguing about no available rooms and he was glad we had called to reserve. Found the AAA membership was great for the maps & trip books, we saved our membership fee in room rates on our overnights back and forth. Plus we could tell in the book which places had an indoor pool or onsite restaurant. As the day went on we would calculate when we would stop and I would call on the cell phone.
