Do we need a new stroller?

I have two children. At the time of our Disney trip DD will have just turned 3 and DS will be 5yr8mo. We are staying at the Hojo.

We have a P3 stroller. It's a large stroller with a great basket, full recline, large sunshade. It has a foot board in the back that DS will often hitch a ride on when he is tired.

Do you think this is enough? I am worried that after a long day at Disney DS will be too tired to stand, even if riding on the back. We stayed at the Hojo last time we did Disney and I remember the walk was pretty long. Do you think I should start stalking Craigslist for something like a Sit and Stand?

Well, the last time we went my boys were 7 and 4. Obviously my 4 y/o rode in the stroller but at night, my 7 y/o would get tired and on several times I caught him trying to get in the underneath basket so he could ride back to the hotel without walking! (now, my son is on the small side but he somehow rolled himself into a ball and made himself fit down there) And he was trying to talk our 4 y/o out of getting out of the stroller so he could sit down. So on that tri[p, I was definitely wishing I had a Sit & Stand.....or heck, even a double stroller! :lmao:

I would say that if you can find one at a reasonable price, it wouldn't hurt. But everyone's kids are different.......some can handle the park much better. My parents took my niece & nephew years ago to DL and my niece (who is 4 yrs younger than her brother) was skipping out of the park at closing while her brother was dragging his butt!!!

My DD with be 5 and my DS just 3 when we go in May.

Last trip my DD was just 3 and my DS was 9mo, I brought my Double Graco. My son napped in the stroller when he wasn't in a Bjorn. My DD walked in the beginning, then would sit in the front stroller seat for snacks, rest, walks back to the buses, meltdowns :scared:. Loved having the double stroller for those ages.

This time given they are 2 yrs older, I plan on renting a stroller for my DS, then renting another single stroller later in the day for my DD when/if she gets tired. (we don't use strollers at home anymore, have given them all away...) We also plan on taking more hotel/pool breaks as we're staying onsite this trip.

Perhaps purchase one of those cheap umbrella strollers just for the trip? You shouldn't have much trouble getting rid of it after. The other option would be a carrier of some kind for the walk back if you DS wants to ride. I still wear my girls who are just shy of 3.

You know, I was kind of thinking about getting one for late night walks back to our place. We have a total of 5 kids going (the 2 youngest ones will have regular strollers) but we've got enough hands where someone could push another one if need be.

I haven't checked any stores yet but I did look online and I didn't see many that were "cheap cheap". Anyone know of a good place to look for one or suggest one? I'd really like to spend about $20-ish on one. Maybe that isn't realistic though?

If you think DS having a place to sit, rather than just stand, will make a difference, then yes stalk craigslist for a sit and stand. If you think he will be fine to ride yet have to stand, then dont spend the money.
I dont exactly know what a P3 is. Is the footboard ment to be riden on? If not then I would get a sit and stand as I think DS will be wanting a ride home each night.

Just be careful, I learned the hard way that when it comes to umbrella strollers, "cheap" does equate to "cheap". We bought a cheap umbrella stroller to take with us on our first family vacation and it was HORRRRRRID!!! I think the handle came to DHs knees (OK a bit of an over exageration, but honestly not much) and the thing even for me was so hard to push and manuver (and DS was only 6 months old, it's not like we had 30 lbs of weight in it or anything
SO, just be careful

I would look into getting a dis visa for the free stroller rental. Take the p3, and if your older one gets tired send another adult to go rent a stroller and use that for the rest of the day. Or rent one, park it, and then go get it when needed.

Yeah, that is one thing that I worry about plus the manueverability (is that a word? lol) Fortunately, DH and I were not gifted in the height dept (I'm 5'2 on a good day and he's 5'9) so I'm hoping we can deal with it.

On another note, I had a dream last night that I was looking in my closet for something and pulled out an old umbrella stroller! Must have been on my mind when I went to sleep! :upsidedow
