ok, just found a pressed penny map and there are so many machines I am a bit flabbergasted...daughter loves these and has a storage book at home but I think we will want one from the parks do they sell them there? If so where is the best place to find them?

I knwo the MnM container tip, I think I will need two! I dont want 200 pennies coming home with us...think I should just say when the book is full no more? are kids (5yrs) usually too busy and distracted to bother with the pennies? I am wishing I was in the pressed penny business lol

We bought one for our DS a few trips back and I think we picked it up at the emporium in MK. They should sell them everywhere. They are pretty popular. Have fun on your pressed penny search! :)

Hi
The pressed penny books are usually at gift shops and kiosks at the parks thoughout DW. I usually layer a quarter and a penney in a prescription pill container. They fit perfectly if you don't have an m&m container. I don't think 5 is too young. I think they'll have fun with it.

They sell the pressed penny book at most of the stores. We happend to see one coming out of test track, so we bought it. I did not know they had them lol.

One thing to remember is that the holes in the book are certian sizes. There are holes to fit pressed pennies, nickels (maybe they don't have nickels, lol), dimes and quarters. The penny ones will fit in the first three "pages" but the last page the holes are huge and only the quarters will fit. We have 48 pennies (three pages) and one quarter. We have 8 quarter holes left. and 8 holes at the top (2 on each page, penny sized)

My book has a price sticker of $6.95. We started our first trip when the kids were 4 and 5. They really enjoy it.

We bought ours last year in the gift shop at Fort Wilderness. I am sure they sell them in many other gift shops. We leave our books at home and just put the money in large M&M containers and Mento gum containers that I decorate for them. It just saves space and then the kids have time to put them in when we get home.

thanks, guys! beautiful covered containers too, I have to find the time to decorate ours!!! good to know about the books and the quarters, I dont really want to spend so much so we will stick to pennies :) 39 days until our trip...all these little things are piling up in my head!

My girlfriend got a tinkerbell pennybook at the gift shop in Germany at EPCOT. It has space for alot of pennies and even a few slots for pressed quarters.

Just a heads up about the pressed penny books....
I thought Airport Security was going to initiate a lock down!
They kept putting my DDs backpack through the x-ray machine. The woman was sweating and asking all sorts of questions about who packed her bag. She finally asked me to open it. I took out my DDs stuffed Bolt and they put that through the x-ray a couple of times.
I had already told her there was a DS in the backpack..no problem.
Then I casually mentioned the pressed penny collection. She froze and stared at me...."pressed penny? Could you remove that for me?"
LOL...turns out that a pressed penny book sitting against a nintendo DSi looks extremely suspicious on the x-ray machine!
so now we always take the penny book out and put it in the bin.

We saw a mickey one in navy blue and a purple tinker bell one while we were there last week.

Does anyone know if they have any Rapunzel/Tangled pressed pennies? I could spend a whopping 51 cents for my DDs souvenier from DW :rotfl2:.

Did anyone have a current price on these? Will order off eBay if the Parks are significantly more expensive.

I believe I paid $14.95 for one...im not exactly sure, but that number is sticking out in my head!

Edit: I think my number is too high. They're not grossly expensive!

And to OP I stopped collecting them when I ran out of room in my book! BUT I do have to say, it was so much fun to find them...it was like finding treasure! I brought $40 in quarters and enough pennies to match that...because I didn't know how much I wanted to press! I ended up just pressing one books worth plus a few extra (to give to other family members!)

So I know this is a little :offtopic: but we had trouble at airport security because of our toothbrushes! All 4 of us have mechanical toothbrushes and had them all jumbled in one small bag. I can see how the batteries and wires all together could look suspicious :) The security people were very friendly, I just had to pull it out and they checked the bag and we were on our way! Now I try to at least only put 2 in each bag!

A more up to date listing of the press penny machines (not a map but listing the locations and press descriptions) is http://www.presscoins.com/listings/
They update that regularly - and you can send any corrections and they check it out and update the list.
Hubby had all of Epcot and Magic Kingdom done and Disney changed the dies in a few machines and added some machines between our Feb and June trips. We check out that website before each trip and update our checklist so he can get any new pressed pennies.

Airport security at LAX did not like my pennies and quarters that were still rolled from the bank. They made me unpack my entire bag to show the rolls to them. It wasn't a big deal once I showed them, but of course it was in the bottom of the bag!
